Role or not, any townie needs to defend themselves and scum hunt to the best of their ability. I know that often people without roles get less excited by the game, but it should never be a reason to just go inactive.

Also, I love reading that scum chat log... my name featured in it quite a lot. How different things would have been if you'd gone with your first thought and killed me instead of Rhizo on Night 2! It also would have been right after I joined to replace Myrrdin, so kinda rude

And it confirms what SM said and I had suspected - that scum got safe claim names, and so depending on them would have proven nothing - hence why KH pulled the "Does Ron Weasley sound like scum to you?" card. Though Ali's reaction to his safe-claim name is amusing

It actually added a LOT to the game that people were either 'gryffindor student' or 'helpful hogwarts staff' - two variants of townie. Would have made a cop fakeclaim difficult/risky to pull off, though that was not really recognized until later. When Kevin first said I was a Gryffindor Student it didnt mean much to me - significance of it came later.
