Conflicted Card Game: Week 1

I have a fun game to play with everyone. You may remember when Samus ran his Morality Tests. I decided to expand off of that and we will be playing The Conflicted Card Game. Conflicted is a game which consists of multiple decks, each deck containing 52 cards, and on each card is a question. The setting is in an environment where some catastrophic event has occurred. Could be nuclear war, World War III, horrible disease, economic collapse, but regardless of the scenario, no form of government really exists or if it does it is unable to help you. No calling 911, no cell phones, no internet. Its just yourself, maybe friends and family, and possibly a small group of people who can help you. Not necessarily Mad Max/Post Apocalyptic, but cohesive civilization with modern technology at our fingertips is essentially over.

Every week I will post one of the cards (selected at random), and each participant writes a response to what they would do in that situation or how they might handle it. I will let the thread run for one week, and then post a new question. Post as much as you like after giving your response. Debating and analyzing is part of the game! I won't be playing as I am the one running the game.

There are no right or wrong answers as the game is about hearing how people could navigate a stressful or perilous situation.

Deck 1 - Downfall: Jack of Spades

"You are alone, driving out of state when, all of a sudden, your car dies. You realize your car died and so did everyone else's. Nobody's phones are working. You have a sinking feeling that an Electromagnetic Pulse went off. You are surrounded by strangers from all walks of life. Everyone has very limited resources. Would you join forces or disappear on your own? What would be your main goal after this decision?"

I always have a problem with things like this because there are constantly important details that in no way match my own life... such as, I never go anywhere alone, I am always with someone, and my wife drives everywhere we go. So the questions never really line up. But, I'll try to play along.

I would take from my car what I need, push the car onto the shoulder if possible, and start walking home... very ALONE!

Depending on what I was doing out of state, I'd probably have some outdoors gear with me. I'd look to establish a camp near a water source and use my fishing tackle to get food. I'd just be treating it as an early retirement but I'd be wary of any strangers and would likely try to kill them before they got too close.

Just go off on my own until I get somewhere where there is power again

I'd likely get out of my car after trying to restart it for a bit, and going through what's going on, and by the sounds of it there will be other cars around me thus people.  I imagine many will be out of their car and talking with one another, and I'd likely chime in and see what others think is going on and such.  Once I determined the cars werent going to start I'd likely make a decision.  

Either A:  Later in the day/evening I'd likely look to camp it out in my car for the night.  If there's a woods nearby I'd maybe look to setup a fire if it's cold before so.

B:  Earlier in day, start making my way back the way I was going and either find somewhere that had power and find a ride home, and if not keep walking until I get home or eventually find a quicker way.

On the way, I'd likely loot and steal if need be from stores on the way if I have to.  I'd pay cash if possible, but I don't usually carry a lot on me, so if times got tough and I needed food to get back home I'd do so.  Hopefully my wife would be with me...and if not, I'd be frantic the whole time wondering if she was alright or not, and hope she has the same mindset to get back to the house and go from there.  

If people follow me on my journey, that's up to them but I'd likely be most alone or try to be.
