Yea the more i look at it the more i agree, ill make a less choppy version...

The flag looks sweet! The sig wasn't too bad either!

ok a couple of things

 

not to bad for only using PS for a short time

 

an idea for the flag use fabric instead it makes more realistic i think

 

for your sig i give 5/10 your focus is good, blending is good but could you work, you need some sort of light source, and text needs to stand out( hint mess with the blending options)

hmm alright thanks for the pointers.

 

So to get the fabric look for the flag how would i go about doing that? are there textures i could download? or is there another way?

 

and for the sig im thinking the text may fix easily with a drop shadow or something but as for a light source, is their a way to add a light source from a certain spot or do i have to do it in the blending options?

Under the filter tab, go down to render, then to lighting effects. It'll give you several options on a light source (ie spot light, 3 lights, glow, etc.) and the ability to change teh color of that light source. This will only apply to one layer unless you duplicate it.

 

Not sure if there's an easy way to get a fabric going, I often find a certain monochrome texture I like and set it as background, then overlay the flag pattern while messing with transparency. Another way is to keep playing with the ripple/wave distortion until you have the right amount of wiggle, then crop it back into a rectangular shape.

another way is download a fabric like silk throught image searching and set as the background

Yea I know, I have already mentioned in the banner contest forum that I plan on remaking the banners to clean em up some.

You should design Squad banners or something like that.

I might try that when I get a little more time, I'm working on something at the moment.
