Not sure if there are any other workout/exercising fiends around here, but if there are, does anyone have any good tips or advice to give others on building muscle, dieting, workout supplements, or workout programs?

 

 

I have been doing P90X for awhile and just re-started another 90 day program last week. Today I will be starting a 5k running program to supplement P90X as well.

 

Does anyone have any advice that they would like on workouts or anything?

 

Any tips to share?

Eat lots of pizza, fatty foods, don't do exercise, and be a general pig. 

 

 

The more people follow this advice, the less effort I then have to put into exercise to look attractive.

Artigo and I have made an exercise plan before for muscle bulking as well as an eating plan for someone a few years ago.

if u want to build muscle you need to eat plain and simple, as far as i have seen p90x is a low carb diet with huge cardio (you can tell me if im wrong)

in order to build muscle your body needs a lot of food, protein per day (chicken and fish are the best places for these) or 35-40%

carbs 45-50%  and the rest is fat 10-15%(try to use "good fats and oils" can be found in cashews and almonds, fish ect

For working out, I'd just say pick something you like to do and do it. Doesn't matter if it's weightlifting, running, martial arts, dancing, sports, or parkour. Being on your feet and moving is about 90% of it. If you don't enjoy it, you won't do it. It's a hard enough struggle if you're overweight. Make it as pleasant as possible to start with.

 

Diet is harder because it requires a mindset change. For a lot of people, food is more than just nourishment. It serves a lot of mental functions (stress reliever, emotional trigger, social lubricant) that it isn't well suited for. Try to find something else to meet those mental needs first. Then educate yourself on what food actually does. Just reading about the positive impact of healthy food can really change your attitude towards it.

 

Also, changing weight sucks. Your body won't like it and will fight you most of the way. Exercise first, sleep second, diet third. This will keep you from doing too much at once and minimize stress. You'd be surprised at what exercise & sleep will do for your energy levels and hunger. Do those first and it will make the diet easier.

Realistic targets is another important step. So having just got back on the cardio development train my first target is 5k is under 30 minutes. I know some people will laugh at it but for me it is a starting place. It needs to be something you can achieve within a short enough time period to keep motivation. 

 

Even if your long term ambition is to lose a large amount of weight or reach a very high standard of fitness, milestones are better than just having one target.

Do calisthenics four days a week, also warm-up before workout and perform cardio after. Running and swimming are just the best condition builders, some cyclism too. Join a sport team you like, don't be shy and show your talent. I would tell you a lot more recommendations, but you may have to change most of your lifestyle.

Dont make it too complicated if you're beginner/intermediate, 1000 people will tell you 1000 things and 900 of those would be bro-science.

 

goto bodybuilding.com forums (not the articles, click bait for supplements etc), read the stickies in the sub forums that interest you.  You dont really even need supplements at the very start and at end of the day, they're mostly for convenience unless you're aiming for some championship etc.

 

Hardest and most important part is the food. Right kind and right quantity with the usual excercise fundamentals oriented to whatever your goal is, strength or muscle growth or endurance etc.

 

Dont get injured, it's PITA, one of my left has had knee injuries, foot injuries and recently a fracture, I got injured because I did'nt give a fuck about previous injuries which led to poor recovery and the leg getting relatively weaker than the other and the load balancing did'nt work out. So if you get injured, take it very seriously, especially it's the joints etc.
