New Football Season

Featured Replies

Well today (Saturday 17-08-13) is the start of the new English Premier League (for you Americans out there proper Football not Soccer).  and once again as a Liverpool fan my hopes and dreams of them winning the title will no doubt be very short lived. anyone care to comment on who will win the title, top scorers, first manager to be sacked. that sort of stuff.

Q its the best i could do, couldn't find the old one,. with Liverpool being at home on the early Kick off 12:45, hoping for a win that will put them top of the table, sad but may be the only chance this year of getting there.

title - Chelsea

top scorer - Sturridge (biased)

sacked manager -  Moyes (i can but dream)

star player  - Coutinho (again biased)

Haha talk about biased murphpk. This years BPL is going to be tough. Chelsea reunited with Mourinho, Man Sh*tty with a proper manager (my grandmother could do better with the budget and time that was given to Mancini) and United losing it's biggest asset with the retirement of Sir Alex. I think it will be these 3 clubs fighting for the championship. I hope Moyes won't disappoint to badly because he has some big shoes to fill. Can't see Arsenal (Wenger can't buy milk at the supermarket, let alone a decent footballer), Liverpool (Rodgers is just a bad manager + that whole Suarez drama isn't good for the moral) or Spurs (Bale is likely to leave) compete for the top spots, #4 will be crucial for these clubs. I also think that Swansea are going to surprise this season.

Yehom, being mid 40's and just still about remembering the Liverpool glory years, i am always this biased at the beginning of the seaon, then reality kicks in. your right top 4 is imperative for a few teams and there could be some surprises.

If Chelsea win it this year, I will see these forums painted blue......

Well they do have the "special one" again. Mind you that's conditional on Arkady not throwing a hissy fit >.<

And what do you know, Liverpool won.

Didn't make it for 3pm, (I went to see my own not-in-the-Prem local team).

Anyways, in addition to my 'Chelsea for the title' prediction.

Top scorer - Wilfried Bony - I reckon he will have a similar impact to Michu last season, and going for RVP would just be boring.  My 'dark horse' would be Torres.  If anyone can get him playing at full potential again, it's Jose.

First Manager to be sacked - Mark Hughes.  He's just shit.

Certainties for relegation - Cardiff.  No surprise there.

Surprise package - Hull.  They have spent very wisely, and although I have a dislike for Steve Bruce that I don't really know why it exists, he has the Premiership experience to guide them well.

Barca 6-0 half time lol

Go Utd too btw :P

My primary experience with football was attending school in Hampshire when Portsmouth FC was promoted to the Premiership, and dealing with the most dickish kids in the school strutting around like it was something they personally achieved and insulting anyone that didn't pay attention to football.

So Portsmouth 1 Oxford United 4 gives me a strange satisfaction.
