I was wondering if someone could look over a setup of mine for a future game.

007 theme/ License To Kill
1 007 - Default, possesses Walther PPK = 1 shot Dayvig or night vig
1 M- Governor, can stop 1 lynch, except on oneself/Informed of allocation of all Q items/Knows who Q and 007 are, though not vice versa
1 Q- Inventor. Each night chooses 2 inventions from list and chooses 1 or 2 players to whom these devices are given the next day. If a player dies before an item can be given, the item is returned to Q's inventory of items to allocate. Q cannot use any device himself.
7 MI6 Agents
2 SPECTRE Infiltrators - Mafia
1 SPECTRE Thief - Mafia; May target 1 player and steal 1 item (randomized if more than 1) in their possession;
1 Rogue Agent - Survivor/Thief.  May target 1 player and steal 1 item in their possession  (randomized if more than 1). Wins by surviving to end game.

Night Start (Q only) - Q picks 2 devices and allocates them
Day 1 - Devices are received, M is informed

Partial Q invention list:

1. Killing (Defensive, night)
Lightbulb Bombs - If user is targeted by someone other than Q, they will be killed, friend or foe. One night use only.
Built by M herself, these self-made explosive devices contain a broken lightbulb inside a small plastic bag filled with kerosene and small bits of screws and other small bits of scrap metal. When attached to a light bulb socket and switched on by intruders, they explode sending large flames and bits of scrap metal flying everywhere.

2. Tracking (self-tracking)
Microchip implant - M will discover where user goes each night, if they go anywhere to begin with.  User will not be made aware of this device. Cannot be stolen.
Bond is implanted with a microchip that helps MI6 keep track of Bond's whereabouts; it also monitors Bond's vital signs which are transmitted back to MI6 for analysis.

5. Watching (night)
SNOOPER - If target has a night action, user will be informed. Any visitors to target will be known to user. One night use only.
One of Q Branch's surveillance inventions. A small, animal-like remote controlled camera unit that can transmit audio/video from the head of the unit to a receptacle for the signal. It was used as demonstration near the beginning of the movie and at the end to find Bond.

6. Killing (Offensive, day)
Motion-sensing bomb - User picks a target at night.  The following day, the target must publicly choose between the red, blue, green, or yellow wires. The correct wire defuses the bomb (chosen by user at time of use).  Incorrect wires detonate it. If no wires are chosen by the time of a hammer vote or day's end, the bomb will detonate.
Actually Bond's cigarette case, supposedly equipped with a gyroscope that would trigger the detonator when moved. Used to fool a henchman into letting 007 crash Largo's charity ball. This was the only time Bond improvised by inventing a fake gadget on the spot.

9. Communication (day & night)
Radio transmitter, allows private 1x1 communication between Q and user -
Hidden behind a fake panel in Strangways' bookcase, the MI6 radio transmitter was located at the Jamaican station and was used to make regular contact with London. Strangways' assistant was operating the equipment when she was murdered.

10. Tracking (night)
Homing beacons, gives user the ability to track a target. User will discover where target went at night, if they went anywhere to begin with. One night use only.
Bond is given two homing beacons from Q-branch. The first is larger and used when Bond tracks the villain, Auric Goldfinger, to his base. The second is smaller and allows MI6 to know where Bond is. Bond hides it in a secret compartment in the heel of his shoe. Later, Bond removes it from the shoe and attempts to send a message to headquarters by wrapping the note around the transmitter and slipping it into someone's pocket. The plan fails because the pocket's owner is killed and disposed of in a car crusher, which presumably destroys the device.

16. Protection/Blocking (night)
Aston Martin - User and optional target will "leave town" for the night, making all night actions by them and upon them thwarted. Target will be informed. One night use only.

Game sounds fun. Q seems like she would be a bad ass.

I think it's very clever and like it.

My first thought was that the town was way over-powered with all the gadgets, but then I changed my mind.

There's really not a lot of information to be gained by the town even if all the devices are successfully used.

The one-use tracker and watcher devices have to get lucky to see anything.

The killing and communication devices can just as easily hit townies as scum.

I think it might be a bit "swingy" in that the scum will get an advantage if M or Q are killed early, but that's the nature of a lot of games.

Let's do it!

Also, the list is an incomplete list for a couple reasons.  First there are a few gadgets that have "surprise" twists to them or require a certain event to occur to work properly. Secondly, it lets people come up with "fake" invention claims if they want to (for bluffing purposes).  There are 16 total gadgets.

Since Alternate_Tree asked to do a game before I did, I am waiting to see if he is going to do his game before I start a signup.

i never moded a game, and tbqh i like playing mafia too much to just wait for others to do stuff, but how about someone mod this setup:

3 Mafia, 4 Oracle 2 Gunsmith, and 1 Lightkeeper

oracle:

  • Chooses one person each night
  • When the oracle dies, the chosen person's role will be revealed to all

Lightkeeper:

  • If killed, town will be engulfed in darkness during next day.
  • Players cannot see who is talking.
  • Players cannot see who voted whom.

we can use the discussion board kazio used while playing the deathnote mafia for the lightkeeper's ability.

Well I like atypical setups because they allow for added discussion on role-based strategy.  I suspect the lightkeeper death event could be pretty easily circumvented when you have multiple days to work things out in a forum setting (as opposed to the irc format of epic mafia).  For instance you could have a each person start their posts with their claimed name and something that is unique to them, like bands from a music genre they like, so if anyone tries to imitate someone else, it makes it a bit easier to determine the genuine from the imitation.  The very fact that those kind of scenarios have to be thought out makes these kind of games more interesting.

You can go ahead. I should probably write out some storyline for mine before I start modding.
