Xbox and PlayStation are really the same thing now. Now more then ever with the new systems that just came out. PlayStation made major improvements while Xbox only made minor improvements over these 2 generations and are basically identical in every way u look at it. While I think Xbox (My personal favorite) was very lazy when developing the Xbox one. Only minor or needed improvements were made. While PlayStation seemed to go the extra mile. Though the glaring thing is that games are becoming more multi platform(Hurting the company that they are branching off of). I would of bought a PlayStation for kingdom hearts 3 alone, but hey, its coming out for the Xbox one also. I see no point in owning both. Just pointing it out.

I've had a PS3 for a couple of years now, but never tried the XBOX. Was debating whether to fork out the cash for the PS4 but I think I'll wait a while before I do that. I'm still enjoying the PS3 (I just finished The Last of Us and started Batman:Arkham City)...it's my guilty pleasure and stress reliever ever since I stopped smoking

 

I'd be interested to know any thoughts on the next gen consoles and titles that come out.

Im an xbox person but i am dying to play killzone... I only played it for psp and i was an addict..

Here's the thing. Games that are for one console only, will make or break them as they are so close. If say Kill zone went over to Xbox, its going to go down hill for PlayStation. or if Halo goes over the PlayStation, downhill for Xbox. The creators of the games would love for them to be on both consoles. (More money for them). While the Microsoft wants to keep them on Xbox only to stay Xbox only, and Sony wants to keep the ones that are PlayStation only, to be PlayStation only. So its a matter of is Sony wants to pay enough money to the creators to keep it on one consol. (Obviously they didn't pay square cinx enough to keep Kingdom Hearts on the PlayStation only.) as an example. Now Kingdom Hearts 3 will come out on the Xbox One also. Sony is going to lose sales because of this. (Witch Kingdom Hearts was the first game I ever truly got into deeply. I all for this.) I will pre-order when it becomes a viable to pre-order.

I was always a playstation guy, or go back further, a Nintendo guy back with NES, SNES and N64.  I bought a Xbox 360 near when it first came out, as PS3 didn't come out til later.  Once PS3 came out, i sold my 360 and bought a PS3, and it's been PS3 solely for me.

 

When I got to buy a PS4 or Xbox 1, I will be getting a PS4.  As most have said, relatively speaking, both consoles are basically a like, I think it comes to down to what system people are most accustomed to, and been playing on.  Most who have been playing one system or the other probably either have friends they play with that they met over games, or real life friends who have the same  console.  I don't see many abandoning that aspect to buy a different system, if all their friends are on the one they have been using.  

 

There are a few games out there that are solely on one console or the other, but most of the games, excluding games like Killzone, Halo, etc, are available on both consoles.  Personally, I never really got into Halo, nor Killzone, and most games I play are available on both systems so the difference really doesn't matter, I just have played Playstation now for years, have friends, and use to the controllers of Playstation.  The big difference back during the 360/PS3 era was PS3 was free to play online...with the PS4, you have to buy the playstation plus to get online, at i think $50 a year, so playstation has lost that aspect or benefit from Microsoft.  

 

All and all, I don't see how people get so up in arms talking about which one is better or not.  When Xbox one first came out with the details, a lot of things they had planned for it got bad feedback.  At first, you had to have connect to get online, and also kinect would have to always be on watching you.  Also, Xbox was going to make it where people couldn't sell their used games, nor could you let someone borrow a game.  If you let someone borrow a game or sell a used one, they couldn't just load the game and play on their account, the only way they could is they would have to sign in and play on their friends account, unless they went to the online store and bought the game for original price.  A lot were up in arms, and they have since removed those aspects.

 

I'll admit, console gaming is my guilty pleasure.  It's what I enjoy to do, and helps me kind of unwind from work...though my wife hates when I play, and laughs and makes fun of me when I'm talking or yelling over my headset at people or a game.

 

Also, PS4 will have a game coming out from the makers of Halo.  It's not Halo, but it looks damn close...don't know if it is out yet or not, I just remember watching about it when PS4 had the stream talking about the new system.  Also, Diablo has come to playstation...which is going to be interesting if PC games start making their way over.

 

 

*As a side note, I heard that the maker's of Steam are planning on coming to the Console ring.  I've read some people talk about them possibly coming in and taking a chunk of the console gamers possibly

always have and always will be Playstation. currently PS3 and later this year when finances allow it will be upgraded to PS4,

reason being my kids are all PS3. so end up having to "share" it with them and there style of games, so i have been hooked on CoD range for the last few years (current one Black Ops Ghosts). it does annoy my wife as i am usually on it for a couple of hrs per evening. but as Rhiz says, nice to play and unwind after being at work.
