As stated in the title, I'm going to college next year and I have a couple opinion questions.
What's the best way of finding a roommate?

Find someone with similar interests? Dunno mate, I went to college for about 3 weeks and thought NOPE this is just as boring as high school and stopped attending. Of course I lived off campus and never had a roommate. I thought they essentially assigned roommates randomly but hey I'm a college dropout so who knows?
If you are planning on living in the dorms, your college will probably send out a questionnaire that you fill out. It should include things like: sleep habits, hobbies, interests, study habits, etc. The University then usually matches you up with someone with similar habits/hobbies.

Shoot theres a website I seen at my current one. They have this board where you'd fill out a mini ?'er like favorite/least favorite chore.
Look for websites, and that board if yours has one. You don't truly need to be compatible, the key to the room mate game is sanity...really. I mean you need to make sure no matter what that you have ground rules established (mess's,women, parties, other people, curfew, chores, and #1 Bills). And as long as they are sane enough to do what they need to you both are good. And yes schools literally just fill rooms. I live by myself now in my schools dorm, because I like the extra focus
Try to make a buddy and move in together if you got time browse the schools forums... I'm sure someone is looking too!
To save money I lived at home and made the commute so never had this issue. Some schools I know make it mandatory to live at least the first year on campus in school dorms in which case usually unless you ask for a specific roommate you get randomly matched up. After the initial year most of my friends ended up renting a house off campus with a group of their friends where you get more freedom to do as you please.
The only time I was ever in such a scenario was through BT and AIT when I was either in a bay with 52 other dudes or a room with 8 and choices were limited. Best thing you can do in a situation like your's is not worry so much. There will be times that suck undoubtedly but college is a fun time. Stay focused while in class because ultimately you are there to learn but don't forget to just experience life and enjoy your free time. It's a time of your life where so long as you stay in school you don't have much in the way of true responsibility, that all changes when you graduate and have to move on to RL. So just enjoy it and even if you get a roommate that has none of the same interests as you it won't really matter, you don't have to hang out with him anyways.

yes, exactly. Just worry bout yourself as well. Honestly though I am in a dorm as mentioned earlier, I get to do what I want anyway. Do your research no matter what first. If you find a building too loud and obnoxious stay clear. It's better to find a more quiet setting and get the connections to the more loud and obnoxious dorms. Obviously thats where the parties are. It's all about balance! I am on my 2nd degree now.

Check this out my college asked me for health insurance for the dorms. It was mandatory for me.

I found a website that's highly recommended: https://www.roomsurf.com/ but its only through facebook and I don't want to make a facebook account.

I'm not entirely sure, it's between Biomedical engineering or Biochemistry

When I applied for housing, there was only 2 question and they were:
what time do you wake up?
What time do u go to bed?
Not exactly extensive

I do have this option since my father keeps a spare apartment that's 15mins away. But I would like to stay in a college dorm so I don't have to worry about commuting and its easier to meet new people.

That sounds like a fail on your university's part.

I would highly encourage you to live on campus for the first year as well. It makes it really easy to meet new people and experience something you probably haven't ever experiences before.
Are any of your highschool friends going to the same college?

Forget all of those surveys - I did all of that mess in undergrad and they still swapped around my roomates later on. I've got horror stories man.
One of my roomates had been stealing mail from the student PO Box place at night - he'd leave dressed in all black (I just thought he was weird). He was clean, offered food all the time, etc....and stole mail for 4 months. They caught him in a freaking sting operation. He had like 40 federal charges brought against him. If I can find the news article I'll share it.
Though that's an extreme example (thought I have more) I know

NC State, the university I'll be attending offers plenty of "learning villages" I think they're expecting me to choose one that interest me so I find myself surrounded by people who have the same interest.
and Yes a lot of my highschool friends are going to the same college, I'll keep in touch with them but I wanted to expand my circle so I don't particularly want to room with any of them.

Both give me the option of continuing to Med school which is currently my ultimate goal.

Go for University accommodation and allow them to make the selection if you can. It is not easy finding someone online as they can pretend to be a decent person quite easily. Everyone online is tidy, respectful, quiet, hardworking, up for a laugh etc etc. That goes from the genuine good housemate to the borderline psychopath.
If you are in University accommodation it is normally easier to move house should it turn out to be a disaster, and to an extent the problems are their problems as well as yours, so they will help sort them out (normally).

I know some guys who stayed at home and they found it quite hard to get to know folk as well as those who actually stayed on Campus (so long as you can afford it anyway).
Personally I had a room to myself in my first year and then moved in with friends (highly recommend doing this as its much nicer than living in halls, at least over here in Scotland) after that so I'm not totally sure. It may be worth asking around some student societies which you are thinking of joining to see if they know anybody who is needing a new flatmate, otherwise check around some of the websites already mentioned. If it does turn out to be a disaster then its only for a year anyway

DERIVATIVES THAT I NEED TO KNOWNot sure if you are aware (you are at 100 tech, so maybe you do know, but gonna say it anyway), when you are buying tech to send out, NEVER have more than 100 on hand at one time. You should be profiting from selling tech if you are using the 12 step format. Starting at 0 tech, buy 12 batches in this order: one batch of 4.5, then two batches of 10, then a batch of 5, then four batches of 10, a batch of 5, two batches of 10, and finally a batch of 5.5.
NOTE:
If you have an odd number of tech that is less than 0.5 tech (0.01 to 0.49), ignore it as if it doesnt exist. This can happen from being hit in war and losing partial tech. So if you have 0.34 tech, buy like normal using the steps exactly. (You'd have 4.84 in this example after buying the first batch of 4.5...and end with 100.34 after all batches are bought).)
If you have an odd number more than 0.5 (0.51 to 0.99), you would buy only 4 on the first batch, not 4.5. So if you have 0.69 tech, you only buy 4 tech on the first batch, then follow all other steps exactly. (You'd have 4.69 in this example after buying the first batch of 4 instead of 4.5...and end with 100.19 after all batches are bought. Then your next time buying you'd follow the above example having less than 0.5 tech remaining.)
