anyways, as you can tell by the title, I have a wild spider in my backyard. My mom is begging me to kill it, but I don't want to till at least I figure out what it is.
Any Ideas?

I was looking more for a name of the type of spider, and weather or not is poisonous.
And I have bug spray. Pacifically kills spiders.

Eh, it looks fairly common. I'd put it in a jar or something and take it a bit further away from your house then release it.

Don't follow this advice - you'll doom us all!
Apparently, spiders (at least at the density they live in the woods) kill about 80 lbs (36 kg) of insects per acre per year. No matter ones fear of spiders, imagine the unpleasantness of 80 lbs of mosquitoes!

As long as the spider remains outside the house. Leave it because of Niels reason.
Moment you see it inside the house though, you kill it. Show that IRON fighting spirit you have because that spider just crossed a line no spider should cross.

Looks to be more like an orb weaver - you're more likely to hurt yourself running away in a blind panic after walking into the web at night than you are from the spider itself (they can bite, but seldom do, and you're not really going to have trouble from it.) It'll die at some point in the winter if left alone.

I don't mind spiders unless they are running around the floor of my house. I rarely see any spiders in my house and if they are in the basement, I leave them alone. If they can find any food down there, good for them.

I would look for another spider and make them kill each other to see who's the strongest, and maybe you could do something like Spider Fights bets.
