Ferguson Aftermath

Unreal what has unfolded in regards to the damage people have caused.  I'm not going to sit here and argue if the result of the verdict is right or wrong in my opinion, however, what the people are doing is not right.  They're taking it out on people's business's and personal property, along with stealing from companies/people who had nothing to do with the whole incident.  I think there are many that are using this whole thing as a reason to steal and loot, and care nothing about the actual verdict.

It's a real shame.  I am all for people having the right to protest and speak their opinion if they feel justice wasn't served....however there are many that are going beyond that and doing criminal acts to innocent companies/people who played no part in what they believe was injustice.

This is the second time within a year that your shitty government has allowed a blatant murder to an unarmed teenager go unpunished.

Riots are more than expected. This is the same thing that happened in the UK.

There has been more than a couple of instances when an unarmed person was shot by the police.

This tells me this hasn't been solved for centuries since the end of slavery after the American Civil War.

"Injustices anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"- Martin Luther King Jr.

It wasn't our "shitty government that allowed blatant murder to go unpunished". Quoted because I didn't say it, and I don't believe it.

It's our law.

I'm sure you're talking about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin in the first case. This is a totally different case than the Micheal Brown case. Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch guy that was attacked by a bad boy and he killed him. He was indicted and brought to trial. A 12 person jury found him innocent by reason of self defense. You can disagree with it, even get angry about it, but it's the law. Commiting more crime because you don't like the verdict is unacceptable.

Darren Wilson is a police officer. Trained to protect and serve the community... he is authorized to use his weapon to enforce the law. Micheal Brown was a bad boy and he attacked a police officer. He was killed. A 12 person Grand Jury heard the case and determined that Darren Wilson acted properly and within his charged duties. No indictment on all charges. You can disagree with it, even get angry about it, but it's the law. Commiting more crime because you don't like the verdict is unacceptable.

If I was a cop and a 260 pound dude was beating on my face... I would not shoot him 6 times... I would empty the clip.

I think that a cop shooting a teenager of any ethnicity may be bad if it was unsolicited but what has been proven time and time again is that it was solicited and equality demands that we do not demonize actions that were taken by people only if they are of one ethnicity. I highly doubt it was racism of any kind I think a cop got attacked he used excessive force in return was it warrented Im not sure but I know that the riots are unacceptable seeing as the law was upheld in a court of law and determined by a 12 person grand jury and the fact that race even plays a part in whether you have the right to abuse a officer of the law is ridiculus and it represents a inequality we will not be capable of fixing untill we forget about race as a factor in society at all.

Well people say this shooting could be racially motivated. Also the grand jury process was inadequate and shitty in my opinion. There was the ignorant prosecutor that had a controversial background that makes him look shit in this case. They never allowed the other side to cross examine him. I still don't understand why he didn't use a Tazer not a lethal weapon. All cops should have one it doesn't matter he or she wanted or not. That's what the training is for.

I also agree what you said about the law. And I also agree with the statement of Rand Paul who said he blames the politicians for this mess.

It was a Grand Jury. There is no defense attorney. It's a legal proceeding to determine if there should be a trial.

As long as race can be used as an excuse in the law, then race will be used as an excuse.

Solve this by not allowing race to enter into any court. The first person that brings up race... they lose.

I like Rand Paul, but Rand Paul saying anything about blaming politicians for this is just retoric. He's a politician.

Oh I know it was a grand jury. They already did mention it this still goes back to the pre-Civil war era except in a different form of a case. Well race exists in every case it's a win or die situation. Not necessarily if you bring up race and have a sufficient evidence to back it up then you don't.

Yeah but in my opinion something's needs to change each day history's being made but just two nights ago history just rhymed.

There is a Grand Jury hearing the Eric Garner case now.

If the chokehold is an illegal method to subdue a suspect, then this cop is in big trouble.

He will probably face a manslaughter charge and do some time. It makes no difference if the victim is black.

Chokeholding is illegal in NYC since 1992 so he's most likely to be charged with it. The paramedics should be charged too because they literally did nothing when their job is to save lives and not just sit and stand there.

I brought this one up because it has to the police in very different scenarios and with similar motivations.

I don't know what the friends video shows, but if he was already dead they can't say the EMT's did anything wrong.

If they let him die then there will be trouble for them. None of this gives excuse for Sharpton to cause trouble.

He should be arrested, more than once, for inciting violence.

Where's the riots when a non-black kid gets shot or killed? Oh, wait. It doesn't even make it past the local news! People die, it happens all the time around here. Recently, a local white man in his 80's was beaten to death in his own store during a robbery by a young black man. It's unfortunate. But I feel like if it was the shop owner was black and it was a young white man, Al Sharpton would be on the case pulling out his extremely worn out race card. Should I start a riot seeing as I'm White? Nah, I'm not a shitty person. People should understand that these things happen and let the law deal with it, as the justice system is less biased than the general populace. But of course nobody is perfect..think of the OJ case...the general consensus is that he did it although he was found not guilty. People like Sharpton are puppets, fear mongering and creating tension between citizens for whatever reason, if there is any conspiracy here that's the one. ;)

The paramedics didn't do anything after he was suffocating to death. The police officer didn't even respond to his plead. That wouldn't matter he would be like the Martin Luther King Jr.

I don't get it, everyone here seems to be justifying the murder.

The teen was UNARMED, shooting a human being in the head after he had already been shot is ridiculous. This cop may not have wanted to kill Michael Brown specifically, but he wanted to kill somebody that day and that is just wrong on so many levels.

You would empty the clip?!

Do cops in America not carry tasers or other non lethal equipment anymore?! It's fucking ridiculous.

I can walk the streets safely in the UK for most of the part, because our general force do not carry firearms.

I feel your government have really destroyed your country allowing any random kid join the force and giving him a gun - giving him permission to play God.

Who gave the cop the right to take a life away he did not create, it's complete bullshit.

Also I never made this about race, I stated he was just a teen, which is still quite irrelevant as he is still a human being!

Also this is the video R2V is referring to:

American police brutality is real, i'm really glad I don't even have to go through this in the UK

A 12 person jury found him innocent by reason of self defense. You can disagree with it, even get angry about it, but it's the law. Commiting more crime because you don't like the verdict is unacceptable.

Wouldn't you think that the jury system in especially criminal law is just an insult to actual justice? I completely understand why in America the jury system is in place, but because he's innocent by law doesn't mean he's actually innocent. The fact that x-number of random people decide that he was innocent doesn't feel right to me as someone who doesn't have a jury system in his own country. As a Law major I understand how criminal law works and frankly I just can't see justice in a jury system. The Ferguson and the Zimmerman case both prove that once more.

About the rioting. The people that are demonstrating have every right to, but the people that are rioting and looting during the process are Neanderthals that see an opportunity in the chaos. Call it human nature, call it immorality. Frankly these are the people who can turn something that is bigger than all of them, protest against police brutality and racial profiling, into something they can turn into a personal benefit. These people should be as immorally punished as their deeds are.

120% agree

As a college graduate with a Criminal Justice degree, I should point out that tasers are never used to supplement lethal force. Tasers also are not always reliable either. 2 barbs must connect to deliver the charge and one of them sometimes fails to connect. Especially if the suspect is wearing heavy clothing. Lethal force is used when deemed absolutely necessary and any other less than lethal response would be inadequate to deescalate the situation. As for firing so many bullets Officers are trained to keep shooting center mass until the threat stops. Its easy to deliver accurate rapid fire at close range so the police officer kept shooting until the suspect was incapacitated. This is why you hear on the news police officers fired 16, 20, or more rounds at a suspect. Because the suspect was still considered a threat. We also don't know what kind of bullets officer are using. Most use either 9mm or .45ACP Glocks. 9mm ballistic capabilities have come a long way in terms of stopping power I've the years but unless specific expanding rounds were used, it would have largely ineffective. .45 rounds on the other hand pack a large punch and transfer more energy. Less bullets have to be fired since they often stop a target quickly.

The Garner video shows a really huge guy and alot of cops. The decision was made to arrest him, and when that decision is made there is nothing he could do to prevent that from happening. So it's immediately determined that he is resisting. Now the police have to figure out how they will manage an arrest without any of the police getting hurt. It's not some kind of game that maybe if I'm intimidating enough, all these cops are just going to leave and go on with their day. This arrest was going to happen. The man should have just did what he was told, and he would still be alive today. Instead he chose to put his life in the hands of a half a dozen cops that have been ordered to take him in. If the chokehold was an illegal method, that police officer will face justice.

Our system deals with these issues with courts, lawyers, judges, and jury. Because you believe something is wrong with it does not allow anyone to burn innocent people out of home or business. I'm not in charge, but if I was, we would have in Furguson hundreds of criminals in jail, several violent criminals dead, and business as usual the next day. But since that didn't happen, maybe I should get a mob together and go burn down some stores.
