Ferguson Aftermath

http://www.opposingviews.com/i/gallery/entertainment/and-after-photos-ferguson-0

Unreal what has unfolded in regards to the damage people have caused.  I'm not going to sit here and argue if the result of the verdict is right or wrong in my opinion, however, what the people are doing is not right.  They're taking it out on people's business's and personal property, along with stealing from companies/people who had nothing to do with the whole incident.  I think there are many that are using this whole thing as a reason to steal and loot, and care nothing about the actual verdict.

It's a real shame.  I am all for people having the right to protest and speak their opinion if they feel justice wasn't served....however there are many that are going beyond that and doing criminal acts to innocent companies/people who played no part in what they believe was injustice.

Why should the officer used a taser? Because of fear of starting a riot? Fear of backlash for shooting an African American? Any time a police officer discharges there firearm it is because it is the absolute last measure that can be taken. They know that pulling the trigger will bring relentless scrutiny. If your life was on the line, and your only option to protect yourself and those around you was to discharge your firearm, would you do it? Or would you risk possible career ending injury or immediate death? I can guarantee you that every single military member, policeman, security guard, bodyguard, etc.. . Has this exact mindset before the draw their weapon. Its an incredibly difficult decision making the choice to take someone's life and its a decision I hope to never have to make. Its not something to take lightly and whatever decision you end up choosing will likely haunt you for the rest of your life.

While many if not all cases the current outrage is going on for were justifiable, its the perceived discrimination that should be adressed. Sadly neither side (yes both sides need to work on it) are in any way helping the issue now.

He should have used a taser for fear of killing another human being.

He chose to kill this guy. It's bad enough he shot him in the first place, but shoot 4 more times in fatal areas when the suspect is already down and bleeding? That's straight murder.

Nobody would be defending the policeman's acts if it was their own blood family member dead now.

Clue UP:  IF my Father or Mother or Brother or Sister went into the cop's car as did this one in Ferguson and grabbed the cops gun to wrest it from his control, THEY should be DEAD.  IF they then ran away only to turn around and then charge the officer in a furher attempt to again assault the officer in lawful pursuit of them who had broken the law, they should be doubly dead.  MY FAMILY, all of them DEAD.  Read it and WEAP.  I WOULD, it would still be justified.... oh, yeah, AND, they are white!

Wow. Just wow.

I agree with you Samus

Why would you shoot somebody four times when he's already dying? I heard that the policer officer has no regrets or apologies for shooting him.

Does Missouri have some police code of conduct when encountering somebody who might physically harm them? I know for a fact each police in every state have different rules and guidelines.

Again I completely understand where you, I'm going to generalize you with 'America', the US and her rules and customs because I know you are a weapon fanatic so to say, are coming from. Yes policemen have the right to defend themselves in danger, but the way and the reason why policemen have to defend themselves stems from something that is in my opinion the root cause of a lot of the violence in the US, namely the firearm industry. The reason why policemen are ordered and trained to shoot someone down until they aren't a threat anymore is because people can potentially be such huge threat, i.e. carrying a gun. The right to bear arms in the US is so much a solution to these kinds of situations as playing with waving a red blanket at an angry bull. In my opinion the fact that people are allowed to carry guns makes it that policemen have to anticipate this fact and therefore always have to keep in the back of their mind that it is indeed his/her life or yours as an officer. If carrying a gun was rarity, policemen can be trained to disarm (in case of carrying say a knife)/control people (fistfight), not 'disable' them to the point where they are not a threat. Weapon lobbyist always say that people have the right to protect themselves, but protecting someone doesn't mean that firearms are needed. Yes, in very specific situations having a firearm will protect you, but those situations are only created by the fact that firearms are so freely obtainable in the US. Again the right to carry a firearm is not the solution of the problem, it is the root cause of the same problem in my opinion. I feel that if the right to carry a firearm didn't exist, policemen could be trained more suited to control and protect civilians and all of this wouldn't have taken place.

Well if it was rapid fire why hit him multiple times when his hands were raised?

was not shot while holding hands in the air, no credible witness ever came forward (not even the guy he was with saw anything, actually there have been 0 witnesses coming forward) and neither the autopsy report nor the cop give any indication he ever had his hands up.

I remember there was this construction worker and a colleague who were recorded one of them said " he fucking put his hands up" it was obtained by CNN but I'm not sure if they used this evidence

as far as I know, only the cop himself is witness to the shooting (and offcourse party involved). Alot of people claim they were there, none actually sticked to it nor could prove they were even remotely close to it.

I would rather wonder where the friend he was with buggered off to, he was jaywalking together with him.

Well the evidence presented by witnesses was inconsistent with the physical evidence presented by the grand jury.

I'm pretty sure they were going to his grandmothers house. I thought his friend is another witness too.

well as far as I heared, no witness was found, credible or uncredible. Always did wonder about his friend yeah, but I guess he buggered off between the first stop and the incident itself half a minute later.

well hiding doesn't bode well for knowing what happended, he could have been discredited due to the location of his hideout.

I have seen a pdf file with the grand jury transcript for this, it was almost 5k pages, I aint sifting thruw that >_>

I have an idea... let's let the British come over and take over the Chicago PD for a couple weeks... then tell us if you want a gun.

That's only because ownership of a fire has been made more easily accessible in America, everybody has one.

I have an idea... let's let the British come over and take over the Chicago PD for a couple weeks... then tell us if you want a gun.

I have a better idea. Let's replace your firearms laws with those of Engeland or any other country for that matter for a couple of weeks. After that you can ask your gun back. You'll probably don't want it back.

I feel as though I should point some things out about this.

1. They guy was a beast at 6'4" and 292 pounds. You might say this information don't matter but let somebody that big punch you in the face with their weight behind it. It's going to cause some damage. Therefor being unarmed really doesn't matter when you can use your body as a weapon.

2.  The kid was not just some innocent guy walking down the street with him friend. He was a criminal that had just engaged in a criminal act and was caught on video. The officer was just doing his job and investigating a suspect that matched the description he had heard over his radio.

3. Race had nothing to do with this. A black cop just shot an unarmed white man in Salt Lake City UT. No riots funny how that works. Those people just used it as an excuse and it sickens me. Specially when we have celebrities and even the white house going to this thugs funeral but none of them take a bit of time to go to a single soldiers funeral.

4. People are forgetting that this officer was outnumbered 2-1 since it has already been stated that he was walking with the friend that helped him rob the gas station.

You can sit there and say that taking a life of an unarmed man is never justified but when you have a family at home that you want to make it back to and you are in a situation that can potentially end up with you never seeing them again you will think twice.

Ah Ha! So the real issue comes out. It's not about an unarmed man getting killed. Trust me, he had some big arms attached to those fists. It's not about race or discrimination. It's not about police brutality or excessive use of force. It's not about lying witnesses, Grand Juries, or corrupt Judges... It's about disarming the American citizens. It's always about taking away the guns.

I don't know about anyone else. I have lived in the United States of America all my life. There is one thing we do not do, and that is trust the government. We elect Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, Governors, Judges, and Sheriffs. That is just the top layers, because there is much more to it. Who is the boss?... We the people. How is it possible? Because we have guns.

It has been part of the deal since the start. We have a Constitution and a Bill of Rights, and it lays it out pretty damn clear that the power is in the people, and it will forever stay there... unless of  course, two-thirds of the House, and two-thirds of the Senate decide we're surrendering our guns, and our power, to the government. Even then it would have to go to each state legislature to be ratified where you need three-fourths of that. This will never happen, so give up... please.
