I know it's not a recent game, but DAMN, I had fun! I HIGHLY recommend it to all Alien fans.

"Baptized in Fire and Blood"
I'm actually playing it right now, I got the PS4 like two years late so I was late to the party for this game.
I enjoyed Alien and the sequels including the most recent, I like how it tied into the recent film as well. I'm about half way through my first campaign so I don't know how it ends but it is definitely one of the best experiences I had.
It's a different sort of entertainment but I like it as much as I like The Last of Us which is probably the best game I played for single player ever and I played a lot of the major games.
All in all the game got me more interested in the Alien movies so I'm going to re-watch them.
Yeah, I'm going to re-watch them too. I really like the unpredictability of the Alien and the fact that you're not safe by staying in any one spot for too long. But the thing I love most is the AWESOME retro-future design that's done FLAWLESSLY.

Yeah I am definitely learning my lesson with just how unpredictable the alien is, it's really a nightmare sometimes hiding as he circles you and you don't know what he will do. I was planning on trying to complete the campaign without dying at some point but it seems far fetched now as I'm navigating my way through the campaign, the flamethrower helps a lot when you fuck up.
The craziest experience I had with the Alien was when I thought I was in a safe area, I was at one end of a long wide corridor about to enter the new area when the alien suddenly drops down right beside me at the same end of the room and is right next to me and doesn't see me even though I'm completely out of cover. I panicked and hoped into the vent as I was about to enter to get into the new area through the vent, I go through the vents until there's an opening (a drop through the ceiling into another room), I didn't bother checking my motion detector device as I just left the alien in a locked corridor with no open doors for fast access. As soon as I hit the ground I see the Alien standing across the room looking directly at me and finishing me off on the spot.
Yeah, the Xeno can jump up/drop from the ceiling at any time. If you run, it will know where you're are and try to cut you off. Doing the campaign without dying once seems impossible, unless you're maybe playing on the easiest difficulty, but even then there are parts in the second half of the game when some hazards will almost certainly get you unless you specifically know what to expect. Even if you dodge these, tried tactics (flamethrower/flares/noisemakers) work less and less, at least that was my impression.
Which mission are you on BTW?

Can't recall the mission, probably mission 8.
