If you can call this a race, I felt I should post this. We have to be fair, right?

 

This one took a while, but the DNC of Iowa stepped in and settled it with a coin toss. That's right... there were six precincts that were dead tied... so the Iowa establishment Democrats took it upon themselves to perform 6 coin tosses to decide who won these precincts... and Hillary Clinton won all six. Now the chances of winning 6 coin tosses in a row are 1 in 64... so you do the math and we all know they just gave them all to Clinton. This is why Democrats are always against voter ID laws.

 

So on to the official results...

 

Hillary Clinton - 49.8%

Bernie Sanders - 49.6%

Martin O'Malley - <1%

 

Martin O'Malley has pulled out... I'm stunned because I felt he was on the verge of catching fire. There were problems with Camp Bernie early in the evening when it became apparent that they didn't have enough pot brownies to go around... so many of his supporters left early. Hillary on the other hand, had plenty of free birth control pills to go around, and was able to hold on to her people long enough to register the votes.

 

Entrance polling was telling. Democrat voters chose Bernie Sanders as the candidate most likely to do armpit farts during a State of the Union Address... and Hillary, by a wide margin, took candidate most likely to be incarcerated. On to New Hampshire my friends!

Apart from coin tosses, there were some other concerns as well benefiting Hillary.

I think Iowa was through and through a victory for Sanders.

Her highness's coronation seems to have hit a roadblcok for the time being. Remember, Sanders was 50% behind Hillary in Iowa few months ago.

Lys I don't know what age group you fall in but your presumption that people in 17-30 age bracket are shallow and stupid politically is widely off the mark. Its the older people and their voting and their choices that has landed your country in political stalemate. They have higher stake more than anyone else at this point.

Bernie Sanders support base are college students that want out of their student loans, and want their college free. That's it.

 

Have you ever known any "Career Students"? I have known many. These are kids that never want to grow up. They don't ever want to get a job. They don't ever want to take responsibility for their lives. They stay in college... forever. They are 38 years old and still taking Anthropology classes, and getting wasted after class. If they really want to be taken care of they just become tenured professors, and teach our kids to be useless scholars just like them. Sorry Shah... they are not the intellectual future of our country.

Lysistrata is spot on regarding 'career students'. There are plenty of people I have known/still know that keep enrolling in college every 6 months. They change their major 3 or 4 times, almost none of their classes transfer or apply to their new degree, and they sink themselves farther into debt or waste whatever money they did have. And when they do finally graduate with only 1 degree, it isn't favorable in the current job market and they take some dead end job making $10-$12 an hour. I think the absolute highest one of my high school friends made at one job was $16-17 an hour.

 

Many of my friends chose Liberal Arts degrees which is practically 13th grade. They hated high school academics but yet they picked a major which is basically a continuation of everything they learned in school. Fortunately the majority of their debt wasn't horrific because they attended a local community college.

 

That is not to say all of my friends went the same route. Some of them went on to great things and have very respectable careers. I partially blame the college system for sucking gullible people in and letting them pick a major which has a poor financial return. But I also hold the individual responsible because it is their money and their future. Something they should have been much more concerned about.

I personally would like not pay for college. Frankly speaking, I know some county's in Europe do free collage so I honestly don't see why the USA couldn't. Although I don't currently go to college, I do want to. Though if I'm actually going to consider sanders, I'm going to have to look at him more as I don't know a ton about him TBH. His polices seem OK for the most part but I'm sure if I asked a republican he could point xyz about him. I also don't know his values or stance on abortion.

But who cares right Lysistrata this won't change your mind right you're just a typical republican. So For those who are undecided, Liberal, progressive,Socialist or would just like to know here.

 

Sanders collage idea is just the tuition for PUBLIC colleges and I believe for right now ONLY up to 4 Years.

 

So the whole argument of career students or free loaders dosen't really work here, well not fully anyway. Now I do agree that for this to work we need a proper way to implement this and as some European nations do a standardized test is one way. But one idea that I kinda of liked but unsure if it could work came from a movie called The ides of march, The idea was a few years of service to either the military, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps in the movie at first it was only voluntary but because of movie stuff it change to mandatory. Now these ideas aren't 100% but believe that we definitely need to do something to fix our Education system the the problem with student debt.

 

Now this issue with pot and drugs. It's time to end the drug war so get over it. Now I like what Rand Paul says here drug use is a medical problem not a crime problem.. Other countries that have scaled back or even outright fully ended the war on drugs have seen declines in violent crime regarding drugs. Plus the economical benefits. People don't realize that the Prison system cost lots of money they could be used for better needs. 

 

Now Lysistrata your beliefs are yours to keep and mine are mine so I will try to be civil in all political discussions. Lysistrata is anything but a stereotypical Republican. A lot of Republican politicians these days are basically RINOs, they want big government and side with practically whatever the liberals want. Lysistrata and I may be in the Republican party, but at our hearts we are Conservatives. We will defend our Constitution and Bill of Rights until our dying breath.

 

I can assure you that no one here in IRON attacks or belittles anyone's thoughts or beliefs. We are very respectful and I can't recall of any political disagreement that ended badly in the past 4 years.

This is why I do this... to get you guys to talk. I know if you guys talk, people will hear. If people hear, they will understand. You know just as well as I do, if we're talking facts of course, that Democrats believe if they only talk to people who agree with them then they will never be challenged. Democrats have been boycotting Fox News for 10 years... why? Because they know they will have to answer questions about things they don't want people to know about. They think people are stupid, and if they refuse to talk to them, then people will believe they are not a legitimate source for news. In reality, they just look like frightened children.

 

So you want to make 4 years of community college just like high school? Right? Here's the problem... how many kids in high school would go if they didn't have to? They live with their parents, and they are required to attend school until they are 18 years old. They always take attendance, always a head count, always required to have a note, and always dish out punishment for not being there. Why?... because they get paid for every head that shows up. That's all they care about. We would be taxing people, more billions, to pay for another 4 years of facilities and staff, for millions of people, that most won't even show up. They are over 18, and you can't make them go. What I see is a four year extension of a failed system that is nothing more than a babysitting service.

 

The entire government controlled education system has devolved into nothing more than free child care. That's why Democrats want to expand to cover Preschool... more free babysitting and more teachers on the taxpayer dime, paying the unions. Our education system is garbage. The teachers are glorified, unionized, babysitters. I know a little about it... I went to private military schools, and my 4 kids went to public schools. I have seen how bad it can be... and we live in a good area. We need parents to show up, and prepare their children to be grown ups.

 

I didn't say that all of Bernie's supporters are potheads... I'm sure there are a few meth tweekers in there as well. I don't allow drug addiction in my life, so that's how I deal with it. If it were up to me, I would put the heroin addict in a locked room for as long as it takes. Every day I would come in for 2 minutes with a syringe, and a sandwich. I would give them a choice... which one do you want? If they take the sandwich for 30 days... I let them out. If they take the syringe... well, eventually they go to the morgue.

Well I actually agree that there is a problem with our current education system. No I don't want Community or any College to become another few years of high school even though some community colleges work like that. Again I believe that there should be some cost to the individual to pay for college (Books, Room,etc). Change ain't easy but you work through the problems that arise. What's better affordable college so teens and young adults can go and learn things that will advance them through life so they can make a decent living or fighting to find a way through life in debt and maybe get lucky and find a good job. We live in a time of mass technological advances and lots of great things to come will need people to strive for the knowledge but the fear of debt and never finding the right job scares people.
