So today Max Verstappen became the youngest ever Formula 1 Grand Prix winner at the Spanish Grand Prix, holding of former World Champion Riakkenon in the closing laps after the two favourites, Rosberg and Hamilton in the Mercedes ran into each other on lap 1.

This makes him the youngest winner since Sebastion Vettel won in Italy in 2008 aged 22. It also makes him the youngest driver to ever even lead a Formula 1 race, and aged 18, means he beat Vettel's already impressive record by 3 years.

Wow.

This guy started is fantastic. First race in a Red Bull and he wins, holding off world class racers and not putting a foot wrong. Ok he was helped by the two fastest cars hitting each other and going out, but even so, this is something special.

He held Raikonnen off with tires that were 34 laps old. Let me say that again, a 18-year old and only 24 races under his belt held off former world champion Raikonnen, who was in a faster car and had DRS for probably 10+ laps, while he had tires under the car that were half a race old and supposedly should only last about 25 laps. To top it off it only was his first race in that particular seat, yet he manages to stay cool during all of it. Absolutely astonishing race to see, brilliant drive by Max.

The thing that intrigues me is that Carlos Sainz has been more or less keeping up with him, or at least not very far behind. Which means we have two another very stunning young driver waiting in the wings for a leap into the big time.
