So Obama had his first veto over ridden by Congress, yesterday. The House voted 348-77 to override and the Senate voted 97-1 to override.

Makes you wonder what else might get overridden in his last few months of office. Now that bipartisan support appears to be showing for some issues.

First time in 7.5 years? Wow, that is truly impressive! I wonder how many other presidents have gone so long without being over-ridden.

Family member of those killed during the 9/11 attacks can now sue Saudi Arabia over possible connections to terrorism. It essentially comes down to, was the Saudi Government possibly aware of Al Qaeda's imminent plan to attack the US? And if they were aware, what did they do with that information.

It is interesting to note, multiple US Intelligence agencies were very much aware Al Qaeda was planning an attack. If you read the 9/11 Commission Report, it demonstrates that due to laws, these intelligence agencies were not permitted to share suspicions and evidence among eachother. Citing laws/policies, almost all intel gathered had to be kept within its respective department. They all had individual pieces of the puzzle, but they could show one another what they had.

If I remember correctly, there was supposed to be a huge overhaul of the intelligence system to prevent that kind of compartmentalization. Not sure how or if it ever got implemented (correctly), but I do know the government was supposed to be trying to fix it.

meh, you could file such a lawsuit in Belgium already. Alot of Congoleze are suing Congoleze politicians in belgian courts.

not getting far offcourse, the issue being those sued tend to not set foot anywhere near Belgium >_>

Same way that this law, while probably very gratifying to some, will be good for some circus courts going around suing people they can't touch anyway. :D

The differance between IRON and some rag tag alliance is the fact that we will fight with no reguard to our own nations. Putting the greater good of the whole before ourselves. Victory for all or they will have to fight us to the last point of infa in the last IRON nation. Every so often someone(s) will come around and exemplifie this. Living up to the IRON Values. It gives me great pleaser to baptize three of IRON's up and comers.

Pretty much, yes. The US could declare them Persona Non Grata but only Saudi Arabia could prosecute.

Never got implemented. Not correctly at least. I know from my experience, the DOJ and military barely communicate. Military and CIA communicate on an "as-needed" basis but I dont know who is in charge of what exactly is "as-needed."

FBI, CIA, and Military rarely share intel to solve things. It seems like a dick measuring contest of who can.solve it first or who can hide what. Hence, information from Benghazi is so fubar. Honestly, communication within our own government is a fucking joke and pathetic. Even within individual agencies, its still a sad sight to watch.
Also, i swear he has had more vetoed but I believe it was the SCOTUS that has vetoed him. Not congress.

"The bill is near and dear to my heart as a New Yorker because it would allow the victims of the 9/11 to pursue some small measure of justice finally giving them the legal avenue to pursue foreign sponsors of a terrorist act that took the lives of their loved ones," said Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, the chief Democratic sponsor.

No it won't really.  How can a citizen from one country actually sue someone from another country who will never come to the US?

Posted Image Congratulations. Your nation is two weeks old today. In celebration your citizens will experience +2 happiness today.

Posted Image Your nation's defenses were considerably depleted today. As a result of your recent lack of defending security forces riots have sparked up within your nation and have thrown your government into Anarchy. The riots are expected to last until 10/2/2016 regardless of any action that you attempt to take. You will not be able to change your government until these riots end.

At least the people will experience +2 happiness

Long story short, changes were recommended for overhauling the cooperation and communication in regards to multiple agencies. However, very few of these were ever implemented and the majority never got off the drawing board. 15 years after 9/11, our intelligence communities are still communicating in an archaic and ineffective format. Major strides have been made on strengthening individual agencies, but a combined group effort is still incredibly lacking.

Unfortunately, that wouldn't appeal to voters and is therefore not a viable option.

While the persons themselves may not step foot in the USA. Saudi Arabia has a huge amount of assets in the USA that are not protected by Diplomatic immunity and can be seized by US courts for damages, penalties, costs etc. if it can be proved the owners of the assets are guilty. While money may not help those that died its loss would hurt those who aided those that launched the attacks.
