Scales of Justice Mafia

Setup

Mechanics
During the Pregame, the Mafia select one of the following roles to replace a random Goon's:

Then, during Day 0, via majority vote, all players choose which of the following roles replace two random Townies':

During Night 0, new roles are distributed as necessary and play proceeds as normal.
The game is a Daystart and no actions can be submitted on the first Night (Night 0).
 
Players

  • King Cankles, Vanilla Townie, lynched Day 1
  • vgmmaster, Townie Cop, killed Night 1
  • iSocialism. Vanilla Townie, lynched Day 2
  • brewersalliance, Vanilla Townie, killed Night 2
  • SeaBeeGipson, Vanilla Townie, lynched Day 3
  • Lachiton, Vanilla Townie, killed in end-game
  • Lord MK, Townie Tracker, killed in end-game
  • Rafay, Mafia Strongman
  • Kitkat16, Mafia Goon

Rules

  • During the Day phase, each player may speak and vote inthread.
  • If a player receives the majority of the available votes during the Day, they are lynched.
  • At deadline, a player with half-majority will be lynched; the first player to reach the most votes over half-majority will be lynched in the event of a tie.
  • You may vote No Lynch.
  • After the Day, the game goes to Night.
  • The game thread is closed during the Night. The Mafia may speak to each other at Night.
  • All Active Roles may submit actions via PM at Night.
  • The Mafia can, as a faction, kill one player at Night.
  • After the Night, the game goes to Day.
  • All dead players (lynched or killed) can no longer participate in the game.
  • Basic rules for maintaining the integrity of the game thread are in effect (i.e. players may not quote their Role PMs, nor may they discuss the game outside the game thread unless otherwise permitted, etc.)
  • The game is won when only one faction remains in the game, or nothing can prevent the same.
  • Mass role-claiming is allowed

Game Days will last as many real-life days as there are players alive.
Game Nights will last 48 hours but will include at least one weekday.

If we pick cop, the scum will pick godfather

Tracker/watcher = Ninja

Roleblocker/Doc = Strongman

 

We would only be able to get one.

While the townie PR could get a bad read.

Most likely Strongman will be X-shot (which i think is a passive)

The RB/Doc would not know if they were successful until late game, or unit after the scum PR is dead.

The watcher/tracker same as above.

The cop could at least hit the non PR scum 1/8 chance on D1 though.

Are we allowed two votes for the townie roles, or just one? I think cop is pretty much a done deal, so I might place my vote on something else. I'm thinking doctor, it's probably the strongest role after cop? (Do we know if the doctor role would have unlimited protection opportunities, or whether it has just one or two shots? That might change things... watchers etc have unlimited right?)

We get to vote on two roles right? If so, my vote goes for both Cop and Doctor.

 

Reasoning - Cop is obvious choice, Doctor will help save a possible townie or can reveal the role of scum to him if his save doesn't work. He can put more effort in cross questioning his suspect(s) and convince the Cop to direct his investigation on the suspect, getting a sure shot success.

 

If I get only one vote, I am more inclined on Doctor then. 

 

But as Kitkat mentioned above, if Doctor have very limited shots of protection, then probably not worth it. So my vote depends on the clarification about the no of opportunities they get.

Kevin - Question concerning night 0. Does night 0 only last for the distribution of power roles or will it still last 48 hours?

 

Also, since SBG placed a vote before the mafia decided on their power role, does his vote count?

Never played a game before where we get to choose our own power roles, so this is an interesting setup. That said, we shouldn't blindly rush into voting for cops and doctors. While they are powerful roles for the town, I'd think it would be wise to consider what the mafia would want as their power role in this setup.

 

Also worth considering is the fact that X-Shot has not been revealed as a modifier. Being as the game is semi-open and not fully open, that may be something that's kept secret from us. If that is the case, one possibility could be that everything has an X-shot or everything is unlimited. Being as our mod is an experienced mafioso, I wouldn't be surprised to see to see him throw a wrench into things. That being said, if we presume X-shots in a conservative / traditional sense, it's same to presume Mafia Strong man is an X-shot ability and possibly roleblocker are X-shot at the very least. Anything else is up in the air, but with how the different power role options can counteract each other, I'm leaning on the fence that anything else may be unlimited (only one I'm on the fence about is cop).

1) All roles are unlimited.

 

2) Everyone gets to vote for 2 roles with 2 votes (you can abstain on the 2nd vote if you prefer)

 

3) You can change your vote until all votes are submitted.

 

4) Night 0 is just a matter of sending out new roles to a couple players.  I won't even bother to close the thread.

 

5) Role PMs are exactly as listed in the page linked at the top of this thread.

Cop and Tracker would be the ideal setup.

Tracker can find Godfather, and arguably a strongman depending on whether the strongman ability counteracts the tracker.

Cop can find Ninja and Strongman.
Strongman essentially would need a roleblocker, though in previous games, we've seen a strongman overpower a roleblocker.

Strongman will kill regardless of Roleblocker or Doctor.

 

Godfather fools the Cop.

 

Ninja fools the Tracker or Watcher.
