Manafort's current (who knows what else will hit him) trial was about pre-Trump era shenanigans.

 

I see alot of Trump supporters being surprised about lawenforcement hitting illegalities they find. Like going into a house on theft charges but ignoring the 5 pounds of coke on the table and just leaving...

as a conservative, I completely support this conviction.  He is guilty, beyond all doubt and should be in jail.  As for liberals claiming this is some kind of victory of trump, that is ridiculous.  this has nothing to do with trump

12 years ago, Paul Manafort made a bundle out of the country. He didn't want to pay the taxes when he brought it in. So, he did a lot of illegal shit. Rod Rosenstein himself, passed on prosecuting him for it years ago. But, Donald Trump won, and a runaway prosecutor wanted to use it against him. They will twist the screws on this guy until he agrees to say what they want him to say in a plea deal. Sounds exactly like what happened to Michael Cohen... oh yeah... it is.

I am not a fan of Trump but as someone who pays their taxes I take a sadistic joy in seeing someone who tries to avoid paying them getting busted.

 

Also queue the Trump people saying that he will lie about Trump to get out of trouble and how scummy Manafort is and how they knew all along, yet hired him... Maybe he will lie under oath about Trump but it seems really strange that they guy who said he would drain the swamp has so many people committing crimes around him. Smoke doesn't mean fire though it means water obviously.

I feel the same way about the taxes... better to pay them than to resort to crime. What I would like to see is equal treatment under the law. Some people get the book thrown at them, when others are ignored for the same thing, or worse.

Wonder when the RNC will wake up, this is the second guy they got from the campaign that they made a deputy treasurer of the RNC and has now admitted to financial fraud. Who's running the HR department of the RNC?

It is a pity we cant make some sort of rules against that and make it so public servants have to have their financials public and such, we could call them laws and when people break them we can have them go to jail and lose all the money they gained by breaking the laws. Then only people who are interested in improving the country and helping its people will run for office. Unless of course there isn't proper oversight.

It would be very hard. Congress has unfettered knowledge about a multitude of Stocks, Real Estate, and Legislation changes that just knowing what's coming gives them the ability to just make money hand over fist, they have made themselves virtually immune to the same laws as the rest of us, and it would take legislation to change that... and guess who writes the laws?

Congress has unfettered knowledge about a multitude of Stocks, Real Estate, and Legislation changes that just knowing what's coming gives them the ability to just make money hand over fist, they have made themselves virtually immune to the same laws as the rest of us, and it would take legislation to change that... and guess who writes the laws?

Oh yeah, If Trump sent out a tweet calling for Congress to draw up legislation to revoke their insider trading immunities, I believe it would take about a New York second for a super majority of Democrats and Republicans to call Mike Pence to tell him to prepare to take office, and the Donald would be impeached within the week on Trumped up charges. It's their gravy train. How could Harry Reid afford a suite at the DC Ritz-Carlton on a Senators salary? He lived there for years.
