Text based online rpg/mmo recommendations

As time goes by I have started to appreciate text based games like cybernations. I no longer have the time or energy to play games all day long and have gotten more into this type of game. I used to play a game called hattrick which is similar to CN, instead of ruling a nation you manage a football team.
I like cybernations a lot because it offer much at a low price(time/energy) and would like to try out similar games. It does not have to be in the same genre as CN where you rule a nation. I am not sure exactly what I'm looking for, I like role playing games such as WoW and tibia and it would be nice to try something like it in a text based format. Also I'd prefer it to be online, not single player.
Any suggestions?

The phrase you're looking for is MUD. Stands for Multi User Dungeon and they were only the hottest online role playing game tech of the 1980s. 

 

I'm certain they still exist, although i have no clue at all what ones are good and active.
