1st Presidential Debate 2020

On the issue of the Supreme Court: Both Biden and Trump will be going out swinging! Lots of fiery rhetoric on why it is imperative their political side should be choosing the nominee. Biden will offer support to his voter base in that his party will do everything they can to stop Trump's nominee, maybe even take a few shots at her. Trump will critizise Biden for not even revealing a list of nominees, and he will also state time and again how much of a fine and professional woman his nominee is.
On the issue of Trump's tax returns: Trump will state he pays taxes like everyone else and legally takes his Tax Breaks. Biden will go on the offensive claiming their is much more than the public is seeing. He will claim, "If the President has nothing to hide, then why hide them?" That argument didn't go to well in 2016 so I doubt it will be much of an issue this year.
On the issue of COVID-19: Biden is going to hammer Trump repeatedly for not doing more to shutdown the entire country earlier. Trump's response will be how the Country did everything we could then, and is doing everything we can now. He will hit back that the Democrats would have thrown a fit had he shutdown the country much earlier. Trump will talk about a possible Vaccine and that multiple potential vaccines are in the works.
On the issue of the weakened US Economy: Partially a continuation of the COVID-19 issue. Trump will point to a mostly rebounded Stock and Housing Market. Biden will target the high Unemployment Rate and offer his solution to getting the economy rejuvenated.
On the issue of the Protests and Riots: Expect Biden to take a Moderate stance. This is an issue he is really going to struggle with. Siding too much with the Protesters/Rioters is going to hurt him among the Moderate voter base. He will probably sidestep this issue by not going into it too deeply. Biden's response will likely be a basic support for the right to protest by doing it legally. Trump is going to hit a home run on this issue. He will claim Biden is very weak on Rioters and that Trump is a 'law and order' President. He will tout the success of Operation Legend and it stopping the revolving door Criminal Justice System in Democrat controlled cities. Trump will also ravage Democrat politicians who are borderline or outright supporting/enabling the Rioters. Trump may go so far to claim when he wins the election, this rioting and violence will end due to him deploying Federal troops to rioting cities, with or without the consent of the state/local government.
On the issue of Election Voting Integrity: Mail in voting will lead to widespread voter fraud, is the first thing Trump will say. He may offer a couple examples or may say very little. Biden will dismiss this 100% and say it is a non-issue. This topic might get a little heated with Trump getting annoyed at Biden for not taking this problem seriously. Except to see mention of if Trump will concede the Election if he loses.
On the issue of the Candidates Records: Basically just Resume talk. Biden is going to illustrate his long political career. Stating his success and his position as the former Vice President. Trump will point to his Presidential accomplishments, and being a non establishment candidate that got elected in 2016. A few jabs might get thrown at eachother but it will be a boring section of the debate.

my prediction. biden will fumble his way through the debate and struggle to appear coherent like pretty much any other time he opens his mouth
trump will use lots of firey rhetoric, not talk at all about actual policy and just talk about how great he is like pretty much any time he opens his mouth

Just finished watching... I don't think this debate changed any votes. What was most telling about Joe Biden was the questions he refused to answer. What was most telling about Trump was that he hates Joe Biden to his core. I don't believe this debate helped Trump. The media will take the path of least resistance, and cast him as a bully, but to us who support him, that's a reason why we support him. Trump interrupted Joe too much, and in doing so, saved Joe many times from doing what Joe does.
If you judge the winner from sheer dominating strength... Donald Trump kicked his ass all over the room.
If you judge the winner by checking for a pulse at the end... Joe Biden is still alive.
My guess is Biden will back out of the upcoming debates.

What Trump did right: He was on fire and on the offensive.
What Trump did wrong: Constantly interrupted Biden and the Moderator, and failed to fully denounce white supremacists.
What Biden did right: Played it safe and stuck to the script.
What Biden did wrong: Fumble his way periodically throughout the night, and refused to answer questions regarding packing the Supreme Court, how he would handle the pandemic differently, and if he would eliminate the Senate Fillibuster.
The winner: You the viewer for making it through the whole thing!

To the older people in IRON who may have seen multiple presidential debates along the years, have they always been like this?
Once upon a time there was a lovely princess. But she had an enchantment upon her of a fearful sort, which could only be broken by Love's first kiss. She was locked away in a castle guarded by a terrible fire breathing dragon. Many brave knights had attempted to free her from this dreadful prison, but none prevailed. She waited in the dragon's keep in the highest room of the tallest tower for her true love and true love's first kiss.

No... but it could not have happened any other way. This is the result of four solid years of total disrespect for Donald Trump and the office of the U.S. President. Let's put Trump on a stage next to Joe Biden, and have Chris Wallace try to keep it civil. Anyone who thought that Trump would not rip Biden and Wallace apart at the starting gun, was a fool. We have never had an entire media, and the entire Washington establishment, otherwise known as the swamp, go after and attempt to destroy a President. He's very angry.

trump did not win that debate. anyone who thinks he did is lying to themselves. he acted like a child. it was utterly embarrassing. he was beyond disrespectful to both biden and Wallace. trump isnt angry. he is a two year old throwing a tantrum. he had a chance to come off presidential, calm and collected. instead he came off as disrespectful and an idiot.
no one won that debate. it was beyond pathetic. the few words biden did say he fumbled through them and then threw out insults and personal attacks.
you couldnt even get away with behavior like that in a middle school debate class. this is for the president of the US. act like a fricken adult already.

The debate, and by extention the campaigns, are now solely about getting people to vote. Nobody is switching sides, nobody hasn't yet thought of the person who gets their vote. The sole issue currently is who gets their voters to the polls.
Why do people keep thinking Trump will act presidential? The fellow hasn't had it in him for over 4 years! How he would suddenly find it in him to be calm is like wondering if the Sun will rise in the west tomorrow...
