The 2022 Midterm Elections

It's time to change the thread. I'll be posting all my thoughts about the upcoming 2022 midterm elections here... everybody excited?

I'll start it off with the Governor election right here in my very own state of Nevada.

Steve Sisolak, a Democrat, is so worried about getting reelected that he is flipping positions on many issues that are more in line with Republicans. He dropped his mask mandate a few weeks ago, and now he is embracing parental involvement in education, and champions increased funding for police.

If he started wearing a MAGA hat, I still wouldn't vote for this gasbag, but it's fun watching him squirm.

Even though this is factual, the characterization of the lawsuit as a "monster" and claiming that Sandman was "vilified" give this article an emotional charge that weakens credibility.

Nicholas Sandmann was relentlessly vilified by Progressive media, and the lawsuits that followed resulted in monster awards.

I believe his case single handedly destroyed what little reputation was left of CNN and led to the sale of the network.

It doesn't matter who reports the story... it all sounds pretty damn accurate to me.

You're missing the point. That's an opinion and not factually relevant. The story is "Sandmann settles suit". Additional narrative beyond the facts is the problem. Also, the details of the settlement aren't public, how do you know that it's a "monster"? I go to the news for facts, not opinion. My primary focus is "how do I make money based on this information?"

I'm not missing the point. The story was not "Smollett files false police report"... the story was, Smollett concocted an elaborate scheme to fake a vicious attack on himself in order to damage and disparage all supporters of Donald Trump. That is the story.

I'm pretty sure the news you pay attention to is casting Ron DeSantis as the next David Duke.

I'm sorry you're so uninformed. Maybe stop watching Progressive opinion pieces masquerading as news?

Lol, the news I pay attention to is, "Russia invades Ukraine" so I can take a long position on natural gas futures. That response you just gave though is exactly why I don't have any respect for you.

I was reading this about Joe Manchin still not supporting that monstrous Build Better Socialists spending bill and I started thinking about how many bills Brandon will stamp his veto on this time next year since Democrats have made it so easy to pass legislation in the Senate. Six months to go and it's Obama's last two years all over again. Remember when he declared... "I have a pen and a phone!"

Maybe an impeachment, or two. Maybe we'll stack the court. How about mandating unnecessary injections for Democrats?

We can do us all a big favor and make them cover their entire face. It's gonna be fun!

The new owner of Twitter had something to say... on Twitter.

"Suspending the Twitter account of a major news organization for publishing a truthful story was obviously incredibly inappropriate"

I'm waiting for the Shadow Ban algorithm to kick it and cancel his account. That would be hysterical.

Vijaya Gadde will be the first idiot fired at Twitter.

And we once again have the revenge fetish.

He also thinks that twitter should follow the "free speech" clause of the government...

The fellow is cruising for the $1B payout to twitter and getting zilch stock at this rate, mostly cause his garnishing of the $47B to finance the deal made his Tesla stock evaporate $126B tuesday.

And lets not forget, trying to have Elon as your "knight in shining armour" seems less of a stretch then believing in Trump prowess as a President. Then again wanting yet another right echo-box with no substance isn't off-brand at all...

Clearly you don't understand the terms of the financing deal. As a true capitalist, I expect you hold stock in twitter and voted against the board members that police right wing shit flingers. If so, congrats, be less poor and maybe they'll care about your opinion. If not, let private companies manage their own business.

I do own Twitter stock, but not directly. We are heavy in Vanguard, and Vanguard holds over 10% of Twitter. I don't know yet how this sale will affect my holdings in Vanguard. The First Amendment was created to protect the speech of all shit flingers... and I must correct you here... Twitter was a publicly traded company, but now that Musk has bought Twitter, it will soon be a private company. I believe he will close the San Francisco office, move it to Texas, and fire everyone that is not working for his vision of what Twitter will be.

No you don't own twitter stock, you own a fund which holds twitter stock and therefore derives value from twitter's market capitalization. You're not a twitter shareholder, vanguard is and you get no say in how twitter is run. Also, Elon's offer is still subject to regulatory approval. TWTR is still publicly traded at 48.64 as of today's close. That leaves $6 of upside if you believe the deal is complete. First amendment doesn't now, nor has it ever, applied to private companies. You sure don't know shit about the market for a self-proclaimed individual capitalist.

Yeah okay, we are heavy in Vanguard... I told you that. I never said I had influence with Twitter.

You're a very angry person. Try a bottle of Meiomi Pinot Noir or hit a vape pen, you need something to take the edge off.

I'll make a prediction... after the midterms in November, I believe Democrats will move for impeachment of Brandon.

The corruption with Hunter Biden is too deep and getting too loud to hide from it anymore.

They won't want the Republicans to take Congress and do it in January... they will want to frame it themselves.

I can be the first to say it... "It's worse than Watergate!" :)

That's what us Americans call "Sour Grapes".

We use prunes for that :D

Even if all that is said about Hunter is right, all that has been floated around.

It is peanuts compared to Trump's kids and assorted company. But lets all ignore that now cause they got an ® right there by their name on the ballot...

Oh yeah... it's all real. If this was Eric or Don Jr... no one would be able to live a moment without hearing about it.

But it's not Eric and Don Jr... am I right?

Joe Biden has been using his elected office for 50 years to enrich himself and his family.

Time to pay the piper... or is that old saying about chickens coming home the better choice?

It matters not... but if we thought that things couldn't get any worse... we wake up to negative economic growth.

Let's send another 100 billion to Ukraine, or maybe cancel Student Loans.

If we're gonna waste our money and do stupid things, just go all in. It will be Republicans problem in January.

The Brandon Administration, in an effort to counter losing their propaganda machine to Elon Musk, has created a Ministry of Censorship... and placed a lunatic in charge of it. This will hit the Supreme Court like a Led Zeppelin.

If Joe Biden enriched himself or his family in all these 50 years, he did a piss poor job at it. I think the Biden's family wealth is easily dwarfed by the supposed $$ of a single Trump-y.

And you not hearing it is just as much the issue of "the left" not hearing anything about Hunter's laptop. Stop being the sole victim of shoddy journalism and malignant opinion makers.

Then again, you fellows put a crown on a fellow who bankrupted casino's.

Trump made his money in Real Estate, long before he was President. What exactly has Joe Biden ever done? I'll wait....

Just as I thought.

Politico claims to have a leaked copy of Justice Sam Alito's written initial majority draft to overturn Roe v Wade. It's the 1973 SCOTUS decision that made abortion legal in all states. It's been fought over ever since. Now it appears, if this is true, the unconstitutional decision is finally going back where it belongs... with the states, or the people.

As I have said before, abortion is not the business of the Federal Government.

Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights, draft opinion shows - POLITICO

Wait, so he should have made $$ to be a President?

And lets ignore the $$ he first got from daddy, the many legal issues he faced and the supposed still negative equity his holdings have so his taxes are zero. Yeah, Trump prowess for $$ is a go to factor for political savyness.

I will start believing Putin has medical issues when you start believing Trump has mental issues.

You'd be surprised how much of a slippery slope one beckons when fiddling with the 14th amendment, alot related to privacy for starters.

Anyway, some rights for US citizens have been federal from the start, you wanna fiddle with any other while you are at it?

Wait, so he should have made $$ to be a President?

The President of the U. S. receives an annual salary of... I believe... $400,000.

Trump never took his salary during his time in office... it was donated to charity.

I believe Trump actually enjoyed doing the job... which is very rare.

Yeah he donated the probably entire $1,6M, gratz? Meanwhile he funneled every foreign dignitary to his properties, let alone all the USA staff (Secret Service, various state departments, ...) all also being funneled into them while he tripped not just internally but also externally to his properties.

Trump enjoyed the payed golf trips...

Speaking off, the golf cart rentals alone are over half that $1,6M...
