Last Sunday my home phone was ringing off the hook. In the course of about an hour and half, I must have gotten about 3 dozen calls from Olivia at Amazon. Given what I do for a living, I have to answer the damn phone.
Funnily enough, three of the numbers that were calling were my number.
After putting up with the damned thing ringing every 5 minutes, I pressed one.
Noise in the back ground.
"Good Afternoon, RCMP Anti-Fraud Centre. Constable John Smith speaking. How may I help you?"
"Hello, we are being calling about your Amazon account."
"Yes, Constable Smith speaking."
"Hello, yes. We have noticed a charge on your Amazon account for a $695.10 IPhone. Did you make the charge?"
"You are aware that you've called the RCMP Anti-Fraud Centre? You are speaking with a police officer?"
"Yes, yes. I hear you."
"So, would you like to file a complaint?"
DIAL TONE.
Bastards haven't called back.
I loved my husband's statement afterwards:
"You know you've just committed a crime"
I'm like, "Yeah, I know. Not that I give a f**k. Jesus, I'd love to be in on that call. "Hello, I would like to file charges of Impersonating a Police Officer against this man. I called him up trying to steal his money, and he said he was a policeman. Which he isn't. Can you go and arrest him please.""
Now he's amazed it worked. Bastards stopped calling.
