I've been playing some mafia games on ODN forums (with Choashawk). Slightly different rules but most are the same. They always "no-lynch" and play follow the cop. It seems to help. As long as the person the cop investigates is not the godfather and is not nightkilled. And the cop survives long enough to tell us his findings.

There probably is a cop/guard (or something similar) if we face 3 mafia (assume).

I guess the benefit of lynching inactives is getting rid of dead weight and removes all doubt what role (townie/mafia) they are.

Yeah...it's called learning from your mistakes.

Because generally I have been in favour of lynching on D1. So it is out of character for me to advocate a no lynch. So a deviation from the norm should make people wary of me. But I would say... If every is compelled to vote...I would be for a lynch. If everyone has votes strewn about...maybe a no lynch may be the best course of action.

BTW I will be away on vacation between July 12th - 17th with limited access to the internet.

Undecided at this point. I think if everyone votes between 2 lynch candidates...then voting patterns can be established. If not everyone votes...then the importance of voting patterns are lessened. Seeing the inactivity that generally is associated with D1...I'm leaning towards a no-lynch.

After leading the lynch on the cop (security guard) in the last game...I'm starting to rethink my lynch on D1 policy. That lynch was a huge blow against the town. We have 11 players with presumably 3 mafia. If we did 2 consecutive no lynch, we would have 3 nights to gather info and 1 chance to get mafia before LYLO (worst case scenario and assuming only 1 nightkill). D1 No Lynch - 8/3 N1 mafia kill - 7/3 D2 No Lynch - 7/3 N2 mafia kill - 6/3 D3 Lynch - 5/3 N3 mafia kill - 4/3 D4 LYLO If we lynched on D1...we get 2 chances to lynch mafia and 2 nights to gather info. D1 Lynch - 7/3 N1 mafia kill - 6/3 D2 Lynch - 5/3 N2 mafia kill - 4/3 D3 LYLO Hmmmm

With such low activity, I suspect a no-lynch will occur. I generally find that lynching an inactive results in a townie death. I much prefer a 2 lynch candidates with everyone voting for who they think are scummy. Then voting patterns have more meaning.
