  1. Hello all! Just an update from me. And no, I'm not dead. For a little over two weeks now I've had my computer in the shop being repaired (faulty hardware, fun fun). This is turn severely limited my ability to access the internet, and as such it would have been ludicrous for me to assume I could run a Mafia game during that time. I have my computer back now, so expect this to start progressing once again in under a week. Sincerely, Tracker

Unless you have a burst of inspiration you don't have to. I have a contingency plan in place. :wink2:
  3. Between moving and then my computer breaking I didn't notice that I had missed d3mon in his signup. I am unfortunately bound to give the slot to him as he signed up first. However, I did make the offer. If you would like then I will expand the game to 10 players to accommodate you. However, the game's sweet spot is 9 players; it's your choice.
  4. Due to computer troubles (it blue screen-ed on me and has to go to the shop for hardware replacement) and a wave of work, I'm delaying the start of the game for a little while. I'll keep you guys posted as I know more. As KevinH steps down, are Electric Mango or Mdowns interested in replacing him? Please get back to me if you are. And just so that I can say I'm not entirely delaying the game, here are the rules. The Basic Rules Each typical Mafia game 'day' is referred to as one ‘round’ of the game. There are at most 12 rounds in the game. Each round lasts 120 hours (5 days). There is no voting or lynching in this game. Instead, you’ll have to kill your hunches yourself. Team BLU fills the traditional town role, while Team RED fills the traditional Mafia role. Each player has a certain amount of health. When all of his or her health is removed, that player dies. At the beginning of each round, all living players are returned to full health. If no players died in the previous round, all players start with a number of DAMAGE automatically inflicted to them equal to the number of consecutive rounds that no player died. All players will have the same Basic Actions and a few select Class Actions. Basic Actions everyone has access to, while the Class Actions are usable only by you and are unknown to everyone else. At the beginning of each round, you must choose an option for your primary and secondary slot items. Your Class Actions will be determined by what items you select, so choose carefully. You will not be able to change your slot selections until the beginning of the next round. Each Class Action will have a certain amount of ammo associated with it. You may use the action(s) this round a number of times equal to the action’s ammo. Note that ammo is not interchangeable between powers, and will refill at the beginning of every round. Each player may take 5 actions a round. These actions may be any combination of your available actions, but you may not target the same player with the same action more than once a round. PM ALL ACTION USES TO ME! Even if an action is Public, PM it to me. This is for your own protection. When an action is used, the role of the player taking the action, the target player’s name, and the end effect of the action are revealed. For example, if Player D (the Pyro) shoots Player C (the Heavy) with a shotgun, the announcement would read… The Pyro shot Player C, and Player C took 2 GUN DAMAGE! If an action is preceded by ‘(Secret)’, then undertaking the action does not reveal that the action occurred, who perpetrated it, or against whom. If an action states that it cannot be taken twice in a row, this means that you must perform an alternate action before you can take the first action for a second time this round. You may only take one action every twelve hours. However, you may preset your next action(s) by telling me what your next actions will be when twelve hours passes. Actions will be resolved in the order received. They will be processed in 12 hour periods. At the end of each round, Team RED may resolve up to one unused action per RED team member. All actions used in this manner will be announced even if secret, but no information about who performed the action is revealed. So using the same situation as above… A Player on Team RED shot Player C, and Player C took 2 GUN DAMAGE! Team BLU wins if the bomb reaches the final terminus (at the end of Round 12) or if all members of Team RED are dead. Team RED wins if Team BLU has a number of living players equal to or less than the number of living players on Team RED. The Basic Actions (Secret) CONSULT THE ADMINISTRATOR: You HEAL 1 health. Then name one of the nine classes in the game. After the current round, you will be told all the possible Class Abilities of that class. You may use this action multiple times a round but not twice in a row. (Secret) DODGE: You take half DAMAGE from the next attack made against you before you take your next action. If rounding must be involved, a Random Number Generator will determine if the damage is rounded up or rounded down. MELEE ATTACK: Deal 1 MELEE DAMAGE to target player. Your next action cannot be CONSULT THE ADMINISTRATOR. RECKLESS ABANDON: Deal 3 MELEE DAMAGE to yourself. Then GAIN 2 actions. (Secret) SEND A MESSAGE: Choose a target player. You may send a private message to that player consisting of no more than 250 characters.
  5. To everyone who signed up, please send me a PM detailing your top three class choices (listed below) and I will try to accommodate you. If you submit no class preferences, I will simply give you a random class. Sign ups will remain open until August 25th, and the game will start on August 26th at Noon. Demoman Engineer Heavy Medic Pyro Scout Sniper Soldier Spy If you would like an explanation of the themes of any of these classes, feel free to ask questions. Knowledge of TF2 may increase the enjoyment you get out of the game, but is by no means required to play.
  6. I should hope so, I designed it myself. :wink2: You won't die from one round of being inactive... unless someone does kill you.
  7. That's fine by me. However, note that you will still be in the game even though you're on vacation and thus there is a possibility you will be killed.
  8. This game will start once TMCWPTI ends. So it could be as soon as a few days to as long as a few weeks from now. However, if you want my estimate I am assuming that it will start in a little over a week.

As I have been traversing the world of Bob, it has come to my attention that I lack a signature. So I have decided to attempt to rectify this... by asking someone else to. Mostly because I am terrible at design myself. :wink2: Requesting A: Signature Pictures To Be Included / Theme: See Below / Art Deco Font To Be Included: Period Appropriate Font would be nice, but I will leave it to the discretion of the designer. (A Google search will also reveal multiple free font files with Art Deco pieces included). Text To Be Included: Tracker (A second version with some allusion to IRON would be nice but by no means required) Additional Information: I know that Art Deco is a varied style, so below I'm including a picture that I feel is the desired style (and would be fine to use as a template). I'm really interested in illustrated paintings of the world in Art Deco; that is where I feel the style really shines. If you think that you have a more appropriate piece, then by all means I encourage you to use it. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/tracker4502/Avatars/ArtDecoII.png Also, if you don't like the boundaries of the above picture please tell me. The original image is slightly bigger.
  10. http://cache.ohinternet.com/images/7/73/Team-Fortress-2.jpg As Godfather Tony is busy attempting to take over small businesses, trouble brews elsewhere. Team BLU is hiring specialists for a dangerous industrial sabotage mission, and is willing to pay top dollar for your services. Team RED is hiring for some sort of infiltration assignment, but I'm sure they're unrelated. This game will be complicated, so please DO NOT sign up if you do not enjoy the Mafia Power roles. This game requires a minimum of seven players and can have a maximum of thirteen players, but the sweet spot is nine players. Be sure to post here if interested. 1. BeeBs - IN 2. Mdowns - IN 3. CanucksDynasty 4. d3mon - IN 5. Kaziocore - IN 6. Reign of terror - IN 7. FightingOkra - IN 8. Narsis - IN 9. Nerau - IN Alt 1: Electric Mango Alt 2: KevinH Edit: Signups for players are now closed, though alternate applications are still being accepted.
  11. Huh. Well damn. Since I doubt that Nerau could have predicted that role (and its name) being in the game, I suppose that leaves him certifiably clean. I would still like to see those logs though Nerau. Unvote: Nerau MOD: Can we get an extension on the time? Maybe a few days perhaps?
  12. With no word from Nerau, my vote goes back onto him. Vote: Nerau Preston, to answer your question about Angel I can confirm that he is away from his computer at the moment. I'm not sure what the reason is, but he did leave and post in the Gone Fishing thread about it. Lastly, as an aside, I'm not going to pull the same gambit twice Preston. These sorts of maneuvers don't achieve results or, worse, achieve the wrong results if their intent is known.
  13. Well, we only have a little over a day now to make a decision. I still think that Nerau is a Mafia member, but I am willing to extend a last chance. Nerau, if you post the PMs / chat logs of consisting of the conversation between you and CD then I'll consider you safe... regardless of how suspicious it looks. Unvote: Nerau As for KevinH, I do agree that he looks suspicious. However, as I said before I am not entirely sold upon voting for him. I suppose it will come down to how Nerau responds to my offer.
  14. My vote on Nerau stands, and I'm even more confident of it given his shady explanation of why he shouldn't be lynched. If he or someone else can make a reasonable argument as to what his recent posts truly mean I'll consider it, but I'm doubtful of that happening. (As an aside, we might have to limit these games down to a 2 Mafia setup. This game is being plagued by people having to drop out.)
  15. Honestly Nerau that simply makes you all the more suspicions to me. I can't see a valid reason for outing yourself to claim a dead townie is clean. However, what's done is done. If you don't die tonight (and someone else dies instead), you're most certainly one of the Mafia members.
  16. Sorry about the delay. Between RL and Old World Blues (I'm sure ccabal can tell you all about it given his avatar) I simply didn't have time to make an intelligent post. Speaking of ccabal... I think it is a fair point. RP is a way to say your thoughts 'in character', and if anyone were to question me on it I could just say, "No, that was in character, here is what I really meant..." Now I wouldn't do such a thing as I stick by what I have said, but as I encourage you to question everything every person says (including myself) I won't expect you to believe me. So yes, my RP could be construed as suspicious behavior. While this point's validity varies from forum to forum, since it seems RP is scarce here I'll acquiesce and only post it once a day until I die to prevent any more misgivings about it. I don't expect the questions to stop, but what can you do. I'm not going to drop it entirely; I'd rather die with a story than live without one. As an aside though, if myself and BeeBs were Mafia why would we both RP? If one of us was revealed to be a Mafia member, people would suddenly turn to the other and say 'Huh. Well, you both RPed, so I guess you're a Mafia member. Time to die." Now as you saw before I'm comfortably sure that BeeBs is not a Mafia member, so if he does turn out to be one then he had me completely fooled. But for both of us to indulge in a highly visible quirk that ties us to each other there would have to be the assumption that neither of us would mind this. Hence one can surmise that neither of us mind being in the spotlight or tied to each other. Mafia members hate being in the spotlight, so it would just be a shot in the foot to expose oneself in such a practice. Preston: I'm aware of your concerns, and I will not try to dispel them; they are valid points that can only be dispelled through actions and time. As I alluded to in my first post, I make no effort to seem without fault in these games, as it makes the game more interesting and prevents me from automatically being a night target. I welcome your suspicion and hope you continue to keep a close eye on me. All I ask in return is that you don't become so focused upon me that you lose track of everyone else. And to answer your point as to who is more townie, I would just like to say that two Mafia members would not indulge in this sort of behavior publicly and risk both of them getting killed. So either both KevinH and myself are townies or only one of us is a Mafia member. I'm leaning toward the latter, but the former is indeed possible.
  17. A post with no discussion that makes you active without saying anything. Yes, it could just be a comment post, and my point was minor, but my analysis stands. You then made your first analysis post as the sixth to contribute theories on day two. Out of ten. That's waiting if I have ever seen it. Seems pretty non-ambiguous to me. The cop doesn't have any extra sway over the rest of us without revealing his role as he can't reveal what this 'additional information' is without giving away his role. So care to explain what you meant by this if not that you wanted the cop to reveal himself?
  18. Finally, real discussion! Remember, in silence we die one by one. In violence we die in a big pile and have a great story to tell in the afterlife. To answer your question about why you were singled out. As you have admitted yourself, you have been relatively inactive this game, and when you have posted they have been shorter than your analyses in the past (with a few excuses too). This is of course excluding your previous post; nice and meaty, excellent. And yes, the others you named are also experienced, and allow me to illustrate my current thoughts on each of the living players. d3mon: Leaning to clean. Complete inactivity usually means innocence to be honest. Preston: You already know a bit of this, but to elaborate. You are known for your long posts and thorough analysis, and yet in this game it has been lacking. While you claim that you are busy, I can't just take your word for it; this is a game of lying after all. So I'm sorry if you legitimately are busy, but I can't take that excuse into account. ccabal86: Slightly suspicious. Has been rather quiet, but made a point of saying he was here. A deflection + lack of contribution if I ever saw one. KevinH: Very suspicious. He did not attempt to get the discussion rolling but instead waited until others started it and then began to contribute. He also called for the cop to reveal himself, and while I don't believe there is one him attempting to get the cop ousted on day 2 is also suspicious. Now he is saying the cop shouldn't reveal himself. Kaziocore: Seems... suspicious and recently annoyed. Could be from a lack of progress on information. Don't have a conclusion yet. Nerau: My #2 choice for fingering as a Mafia member. Short, concise posts that leave a few questions that are never answered. Could just be a miscommunication, but I think not. BeeBs: Roleplay means clean. Period. But in all seriousness, he's trying to start discussion based upon what we have instead of waiting for some advantage to present itself. A pro-town outlook if I've seen one. Tracker: Seems to be playing some kind of unorthodox strategy. Maybe he's the Jester. Fighting Okra: Seems to have a bit of newbie insecurity. Don't have a conclusion yet. Angel Cruz dela Sant: Leaning to clean just because he's made no attempt to defend himself. A Mafia member would take care to deflect any suspicion cast upon him, not let it sit and fester. In terms of perceived experience, I was referring to the fact that my 'perceived' experience is quite low as I've never participated in an IRON Mafia game before. However, those that have been paying attention know that I've mentioned playing Mafia many times on other forums. In your case,a similar situation may apply; that is why I added the 'perceived' modifier as if the Mafia is targeted experienced players then only their perception of which are experienced matters. To make a small confession, in reality you were my number 3 choice for Mafia. The vote against you was to see if you would start to contribute if you were threatened. You did, which is good (contribution!) and bad (...the timing). However, not automatically reacting in a revenge vote is a mark in your favor. Since the gambit has now served its purpose, onto the next target. Unvote: Preston Vote: Nerau And sorry Nerau, no gambit here. They don't work if their timing is predictable; this is an old fashioned kill vote. And before you ask 'Why not KevinH?', I'm voting for Nerau because KevinH is talking. That means there is a greater chance of him saying something revealing to sway opinions. Nerau has remained silent (in substance) and as such I don't see this changing any time soon.
  19. FO: Just saying 'we have to vote for someone' doesn't help. That's what we did yesterday, and here we are at day 2 with only a few disparate pieces of information. I was hoping that if we voted for a no lynch yesterday that people would perk up and start discussing, but for the most part everyone just quickly agreed or stayed silent. We can't simply assume that something will fall onto our lap as the perfect evidence. So I suggest committing to a course of action (even if it's against me) because at this point we need something. KC: The longer it takes someone to say what they are trying to convey, the better. That leaves more chances for the person to say something revealing helping us to deduce who the Mafia members are. For instance, from BeeBs' post I can surmise that he was nervous to stir the pot. Obviously this is because he was fearing being accused of being a Mafia member. Is he actually a Mafia member or just paranoid? Time will tell. While yes this revelation is not important by itself this game is all about making profiles for each player. Each player is the sum of his or her words, not just the current story. As a side note, I'm just going to work off the assumption that we don't have a cop. Even if we do have one, it appears at this point that it is a one time use (since there is no report today) and speculating about a cop that may exist and that may have found something helpful is silly. Yes, the cop may be gathering reports and banking on avoiding dying before revealing them, but that is a long shot.
  20. True, you may not have a large amount of experience in number of games, but you have a thought pattern that seems developed. So while the numeric number may seem low, you are still one of the more experienced members here. That point segues nicely into my next: many of the players here are inexperienced. So while you may not be personally the expert on Mafia here, by comparison you are one of the most experienced players here. I'm perfectly willing to rescind my vote if you can provide a compelling response. Lastly, your actual experience doesn't matter for this purpose; only your perceived experience. (Isn't this fun. I'm complimenting you, then voting to kill you.)
  21. The entire point of this game is to carefully analyze what people are saying and you want a summary? Seems a little bit counter productive. Regardless, allow me to assist you. He's voting for KevinH because of what he thinks to be an inconsistency in KevinH's logic patterns. He takes this as proof of deception. (Nice RP post by the way BeeBs. However, I didn't think I'll be able to respond on every post with some RP. Maybe every few days. :wink2:) However, I think that we have stumbled upon a valuable lead. CD was killed for his experience, or at least that's the running theory at the moment. However, the break in their logic comes as to why they chose CD. We've established that CD was a feasible lynch target for day 2, and yet they used their night kill to target him. True, he was experienced, but there are others here who are just as if not more experienced and were far less suspicious. Which begs the question of why kill the scapegoat when there were other targets to eliminate. My working theory is that some of the most experienced players here are the Mafia; hence the reason that by experience CD was picked instead of one of their own. Vote: Preston Feel free to counter this, as it is after all just a theory. But it seems to be the best we've got at the moment. I'm also assuming that we have no cop evidence to work with as it's been a few days now with no information released.
  22. As the sun set on the horizon, Tracker wished that he could see it through the ominous dark clouds that hung overhead. It was still a mile to go to is apartment, and without any form of cover he risked his phone and watch being ruined by the rain. It appeared that unless he wanted to replace both he would have to spend the night. What a way to start his vacation... trapped in a café with a bunch of strangers who took their make believe a little too seriously. Tracker took a loaf of bread from his groceries to use as a makeshift pillow, and within a few minutes managed to fall asleep. The voice was clear and soft. "Tracker..." He could not determine who it was or where it was coming from, but it was comforting. It was like that of an old friend. "Come back to me Tracker. We can be together again." It felt so good to simply listen to the voice speak and not think about it. "You don't need anyone else but me. Just come back to me, and never let go of me again..." Tracker could feel the warmth in his hands as he attempted to embrace this voice, and shortly thereafter the warmth spread throughout his whole body. He mused that this is what paradise must be. Then Tracker woke up from his dream. It was lighter outside now, so the sun was most likely trying but unable to reach him now. But that was not what caught his attention. First, he was standing up instead of laying down on his roll of bread. Second, he was... oh no... http://www.ecigexpress.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/cappuccino.jpg He was drinking a cappuccino. The demon had finally won; he had given in when he consciously couldn't resist. He got down on his knees to scream at the cruelty of fate. "WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-" *Sip* "-HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?" This woke the rest of the patrons up (sans one hockey fan, not like he noticed), but he didn't really care about them anymore. He had his cappuccino now, and he would never leave her again. Sorry CD. It's strange though that they killed someone who wasn't above suspicion. So that leaves me with two thoughts. o) CD was on to something. I don't think CD publicly fingered anyone as Mafia very strongly, so this seems unlikely. o) We were on to something and killing CD was an attempt to distract us. Also seems unlikely given how Day 1 played out, but it could be possible I guess. Any thoughts?
  23. Tracker replied to IronWolf's topic in General Spam
I currently enjoy playing video games and D&D. Yes, that unspeakably nerdy pastime that instantly brings gasps of surprise at its mere admittance. I'm DMing (running the game for the other players) the game and as such between that, CN, the assorted CN responsibilities, and VG I have little time for anything else.
  24. Depending upon how the rest of today and tonight goes I might consider a second no lynch. But with 2-3 targets to kill, two no lynch days in a row might be dangerous to indulge in. At the moment I'm thinking that we should no lynch today and start the mass hysteria game tomorrow.
