  7. O-M-G. Glen. Johnson. They call him GJ2 (do they actually?). Liverpool unbelievably profligate this season, it has been something of an over-used word. Chelsea not good at all first half or in defense generally, but a bit hard done by today after that second half. Mata looked absolutely quality in the 2nd half, he's going to be a hugely important player for them this season.

  9. Hey I know that album! But I never listened to that song in that way before. It is quite lovely actually, I thought of it as "just a pop song" before but this time I found it touching. This topic already gets my seal of approval. I tossed a few songs around but the one I landed on is In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel. It's the title song from NMH's best known album, and their last to date, as they went on a decade-plus hiatus shortly after it was released. They seem to be coming back in some way though, I think they played dates this year and more scheduled in 2012. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6H8WcTPnWM&feature=related The album as a whole, I can't recommend enough. You might wonder why I would go with this singer who apparently can't hold a tune, he's constantly singing beyond the limits of his ability and only just within the borders of his soul. When he sings about youth, love, mortality, sadness, war, you just go with him. The songs are really direct and completed beautifully with singing saws, eastern european folky bits, radio hiss, organs, instruments I can't name. I get awfully melancholy listening to the album, it really takes me back to being in my late teens, hearing stuff like this for the first time, all sorts of personal stuff  , staying up late inadvisably to the early hours and waking to a too-light morning with a knot in my empty stomach which won't settle for hours until it is replaced by a pain in the top of my head. This song does that more than most, the lyrics were so simple and beautiful and there weren't so many instrumental flourishes so I'd sing it to myself as I walked to lectures or work. "And how I remember you / How I would push my fingers through your mouth / To make to make those muscles move / And make your voice so smooth and sweet" creepy lyrics I particularly love. (After NMH, their drummer Jeremy Barnes traveled to Europe and for a while worked as a postman in Leicester, before going on to form A Hawk And A Hacksaw, who are this stupendous folk band again using eastern european styles and so many different instruments... they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen)
  10. So England are now the best team in the world rite? (Editor's note: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwsmBdL9jR8
  11. Not meant to score goals like this in non-league: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vIZbLg6coI True story - you see that lovely flat volleyed ball out wide on about 0:24? I played one exactly like it last weekend. Not completely intentionally, I confess.
  12. AHAHAHAHA Much love pal, have a good one!
  13. I like seeing the Rage Against The Machine love. Some of my favourites, there are so many I'd like to list but I am sure it will bore you: The Smashing Pumpkins - first love! Soundgarden Sonic Youth Mclusky Dag Nasty Explosions in the Sky Godspeed You! Black Emperor At The Drive-In - probably might top the list now, possibly. Blacklisted Gospel Wolf Parade Sunset Rubdown Modest Mouse Gorilla Biscuits Quicksand Rival Schools Rites of Spring
  14. Ugh! Liverpool FC 0 - 0 Swansea City. Swansea are a really quite decent team and I do hope they keep going like they are. They pass beautifully, Joe Allen Leon Britton, Nathan Dyer and Scott Sinclair know what they're doing and they'll probably be premier league players for quite some time. Vorm looks like a class keeper at the moment too. Not to mention that they should have won this game late on, Mark Gower blazed a sitter well over the bar. But gruuuhhhuaadssaduuu, you have to beat promoted teams at home. Stewart Downing is looking really really crap right now, Andy Carroll is Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson is not a good player on the right of midfield, Luis Suarez is just one man. Liverpool's next 3 games: Chelsea away, Man City away, Chelsea away (league cup). I am going to be miserable until probably mid-December.

  17. So many Chelsea fans in IRON! Speaking as someone who still has nightmares about Eidur Gudjonsson shooting so narrowly wide in 2005, that is.
  18. David Beckham and Robbie Keane are going to the quarter finals! And Jovan Kirovski too... I see it's quite a long time since a US team last won it. <--------- No prizes for guessing my affiliation.
  19. Nice! :dancing: :dancing:
