I'm not really that into it since it's between a weird old rich white guy and another guy that's just plain stupid. but i guess if i had to choose one i'd go with Romney since i'm not a big fan of what Obama's doing

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax."
The entire western world is watching in awe as the US hold their elections. It is inconceivable that so many people vote for Romney, voting against their own interests. It is actually a frightening thought that Romney might get into office for the rest of the world.I'm from Europe and hardly anyone here supports Romney, he is a person out of touch with reality and makes statements that are considered crazy here.
I'll just keep this short as debating politics is pointless, but voting for Romney is voting against your own interests. He's only there for the 1% and I can guarantee that no one on this forum is part of that.
e: Alliance falling apart in 3, 2, 1...
Discussing RL politics here is probably a bad idea, why not have a RL current events? That way you have maybe a single topic for the elections, an entire subforum is probably to much.

One of the main problems with American politics IMO is that it doesn't matter which party you're from, the sheer cost of running for any office means that you are either in the "1%", or have had so much money given to you by specific sectors that it's impossible for them to be considered independent.
As suggested the forum title has been adjusted.

It's between a weird old rich white guy and another guy that's just plain stupid.
See now you have me confused it's like you're talking about the same person, as a European I can only laugh at people who vote Republican.
It's seems most of them do so out of ignorance of things that are unknown to them, the Republican party feeds on this ignorance and produce idiot retarded people like Bush and Romney and people who think women have a built-in anti rape system.
Fox news probably have 100's of more examples of how stupid Republicans can be as well as their supporters.
How any sane person can even think about voting for a party that represents that ignorance is beyond me.
There again both of the parties are doing the work of the corporations so it doesn't make a difference to who gets in.
The economy will get better when it gets better, it won't be down to the president's, it will be down to the bankers.
Taking all that in to consideration, Romney is bad choice of president if you're not really wealthy, because he wants to tax corporations less and he want's more from the average american.
Why would anyone not really wealthy or running a big corporation/business vote for that?

It's easier to promise bad things and get them through than to promise good things and get them through, that's why Obama is democrat.
Republicans started this war in Iraq and Afghanistan, which helped screw up your economy.
Why would you vote to elect a president who openly want's more war which in turn will screw up this American economy even more?

And I am an avid supporter of socialism, the idea is well, unfortunately humans are too stupid and greedy to make anything work correctly but when all is said and done I favor socialism over anything really.

Correction. Republicans didnt start the wars. The attacks on September 11th did. As for Iraq, the war started with information we had at the time. When that info "proved" to be false, we should have changed what we were stating as our goals for being there.
Anyways, my long and short of it for voting, I dont care what party you are from as long as you fit closest to what I believe about how this country should be run. Democrat, republican, indie, whatever. How ever, supporting people who have not earned the right (i absolutely hate the word entitled) to be supported is retarded imo. Here, let me make other people pay for you not wanting to contribute. Ive seen first hand way too many people that are perfectly capable of working but refuse to. Instead, they live off of my taxes.
Some interesting points being made in this thread. Love reading it! Keep it civil!

Please... the Bush administration destroyed your country, when you consider the leviathon like challenge set before him, Obama has done a pretty good job of it.

9/11 did not start any war, it was simply an act of terror / weird protest. 9/11 was a partially valid CB to hunt down the perpetratiors in Afganistan and then the memories of those who lost their lives was down right abused to help the Bush administration justify the invaison of Iraq to the general population of the USA, invoking the fear anger and resentment which can only be detremental to a modern, forward thinkings and progressive society.
On your long story for voting I agree, and it's a problem which has become endemic in many european societies as well.
I also agree that socialism is awesome... as an idea. It is inherently flawed simply because humans are involved. There is no way to establish a society of equality in that regard without having someone in control of it to ensure it remains in balance. With power comes corruption. No way around that. Also, people by nature are made to compete. Socialism itself attempts to fight directly against competition. You ill be "equal" no matter what you do.
You've reached teh same conclusion as the fathers of modern democracy. The ancient greeks (having formed democracy out of a class system) concluded the only way to fairly and justly govern was through a benevolent dictatorship, however (as you said) the intruduction of human weakness, total power and corruption makes the application of such an idea completely invalid.

Exactly what I have been starting to do. Guns, weapons, and ammo. If anything, December will be a possible test of human individuality. I suspect crime to spike a small amount as some desperate nut jobs will feel the need to do whatever they want before the predicted world's end. I think the world ending is a bunch of crap, but I'm nonetheless prepared to defend myself and my family against anyone wishing to harm us.Plus ultimately everything comes down to the will of the people. Once they become fed up enough change will happen. Until then I will continue stocking up my MREs and preparing for the inevitable revolution and/or zombie apocalypse, whichever comes first... Hopefully zombies...
Back on topic, my personal feelings is that Obama didn't do that great his first term, so I'm willing to give someone else a try. I also feel like his administration has infringed on some of our Constitutional Rights. The past couple weeks especially haven't put Obama in a positive light. With his Administration's response towards the U.S. Ambassador's death in Libya, and riots throughout the rest of the Middle East. He really should have done more than apologizing and making our country sound weak.
Lets try to keep some maturity when we post. We really don't want to start offending our alliance members. We can definitely hold reasonable and mature discussions, as long as we watch what we say and how we word things.
The idea of war is not to die for your country, it's to make the enemy die for his.
