This is something that I've thought about for a long time. I figured I'd finally throw it out there to see what people thought. I was thinking about what a good time it'd be if at some point in the future (maybe a year or two from now) we actually tried to hold an IRON meetup in real life. There are a lot of ways this could happen and if people were actually interested we could talk about it more seriously sometime.

 

I was thinking that maybe we could hold something like this in the central United States somewhere. This would make travel a bit easier on people from around the country. Obviously this would be impossible/very difficult for anyone from over seas to attend but you would certainly be welcomed to come if you wanted to take a vacation to the U.S. (Looking at you Rab, Blade and Q)

 

We always talk about what a great community we have and are in IRON, just thought it'd be cool if we could enjoy it and reminisce with one another sometime. This could be open to any current or former IRONers if we wanted it to be.

 

Would anyone even have any interest in something like this?

We're gonna have to have name tags. Not normal name tags, mine will say HI, MY NAME IS WELDER

We will absolutely need nametags. I kind of just figured that they'd have our real names and Ruler names on them.

I suggested late summer because most schools are out at that time.

Early to mid-August I would say would be ideal. That way we get the best weather as well

The next question is: where? Needs to be fairly easily accessible.

And from what i have looked at Vegas may not be the most central to everyone but flights tend to be cheaper just because its Vegas

I might be able to if it was this summer, so long as it isn't in July. July is completely booked for me. and even then it will probably greatly depend on if I buy a car soon or not... In other words depending on location it would be hard to commit at this time... I still like the idea of Nevada myself. Do a day or two on the strip and a day or two off so anyone can join in on either or both depending on what they like/want to do.

Again I would love to do Vegas. Never been there and have been wanting to go. However, Vegas will likely work out to be the most expensive option after all things are considered. Like I said Vegas may also exclude some people who might otherwise be able to come.

 

I personally think it should be the midwest somewhere (Chicago, St. Louis, somewhere in Texas, etc.).

If no to Vegas then I would say Chicago or St. Louis would be my vote. Chicago because I have relatives and St Louis because I haven't been there yet.

If you make it Vegas, it is cheaper during the week (Mon. thru Thurs.). Also cheaper if there is no conventions in town. Found all that out a couple years ago when we went.

Wouldn't mind Chicago but I would probably need some help from someone setting things up.

 

St. Louis would be good imo. Pretty inexpensive to do things, not an overwhelming city, and there is quite a bit to do. Nice because its a bigger city, but not overwhelming and its easy to get around.

Im definitely up if Chicago or St. Louis is the venue.  Really nice cities with alot to do if you avoid the right areas =P.
