I have just signed up for an account. Seems its back up. It looks a hell of a lot like another game I just spotted though.

Back up? PT announced development on it had ceased. Something about the Admins and people tweaking code didn't have enough time to handle everything. That was all several months ago.

I recall going to the site and it giving an error. But if dev is still closed, then it's pretty pointless.
Shame, because from what I see, it sure has potential, and beats most of the competition that I am aware of.
Wouldn't mind playing a CN type of game, which is a lot younger and which is a bit more interesting than the basic 5-minute gameplay

When it was working, PT was an amazing game. The only downside to it was that the war system was very unfair and the game had a couple of exploits. But apart from that it blew away anything I had ever seen in a game. I got to play for about 7 or 8 months before the game closed.
All that really had to be done was close the exploits and fix the war system. But the admins for some reason decided to overhaul the entire game. A move which subsequently killed the project because it was a massive undertaking. I'd say about 1/2 to 3/4 of the work was done before they pulled the plug on it. Even if they finished I doubt they would have had time to fix all the bugs which would have been created.
If only they chose to sell the game so someone else could allow it to be played. Or at least sell the original code before they started the overhaul.

Turns out you can sign up and actually play part of the game now. Military and Research stuff needs to be implemented. But you can get a basic economy going.
The strangest thing is I can't find any threads mentioning the game was being redeveloped. Its like they did a complete 180 from saying they were cancelling it.

All I know is that I have been playing for quite some time and if you're referring to Chris (The dude who has owned it forever now. Previously it was OldAdmin, a total douche.) he has made the game vastly better.
Believe it or not, I actually got my hands on the very first closed beta invite code that was publicly released. Yes, it wasn't much to look at. All we did was bug test.
Currently, the game is in open beta and its actually progressing very nicely. In fact, the game is almost finished. Here is ways left to be added:
The rest of the laws
Trade
Research
War
I can assure you the game is being worked on (it wasn't being worked on for several months) and the new beta version is adding in many features as it progresses.
We already have more nations than PaW, including a brand new alliance from NS that actually managed to take NPOs top spot (for now).
All in all, its coming together nicely.
