Not sure how many of you are aware as it just occurred this afternoon, two explosions happened near the end of the Boston Marathon. At least six people are reported seriously injured and the reports are still coming in. Whether it is a bomb or not is not confirmed at this point.

Just when you start to forget after all the school shootings, things like this bring back the horror.

Had a coworker running in the marathon. He finished before this happened, thank god. Report i last saw was 23 injured, 2 dead.

I heard now 3 dead.  They found two more devices and were in process of disabling them, and I just heard now a third one just went off

A total of 6 devices have been found and all air traffic above Boston has been suspended. This is terrible. Hopefully the Boston police can sort through this mess quickly.

I just made a thread about this under the world news section with out knowing that some one already made a thread related to boston so i will just repost my post here

 

 

Yesterday a little bit after 2:50 pm two bombs went off during bostons annual marathon to represent patriots day honouring the battles of concord and lexington during the revolutionary war.

 

The bombs were most likely a trigger type bomb due to the fact that they went off several hours after being planed, and they went off when the first few runners passed the finish line.

 

3 people have been confirmed killed one being an 8 year old boy another being a 29 year old women and the third being an unidentified boston univerisity graduate. There has been a report of a 4 person being killed who is claimed to be a chinese national, the family refuses to share the information regarding the death of the chinese civilian but we were able to find out the the chinese person wh was killed was a 4 year old girl.

 

The explosion left over 175 people injured and and over 10 are in critical condition. Many civilians have lost their limbs and others that have been rushed to the hospital had to have their limbs removed due to the damage done to their body being be-on repair.

The government and local authorities have no leads and dont know why the bombings where done innthe first place. They also dont know if the terroist behind this act is linked to al-quiada or any foreign terroist group, they even dont know if this was caused by a home-demostic terroist group

So horrible something like this happened. Its only a matter of time before investigators piece together some suspects based on witness statements or someone comes forward with more information.

 

Sadly, this incident demonstrates how relatively easy it is to conduct mass chaos and kill/injure at large group events. Not much can be done when the bombs were hidden in a backpack.  I don't want to scare anyone but the reality is this incident could happen almost anywhere. Shopping malls, local town/village government buildings, schools, big box stores, the list goes on and on. And there is little anyone can do to prevent it.

 

Its horrible that we live in a world where almost no one is safe from nut jobs anymore. These days you can't even step out of your house without briefly wondering could something horrible/terrorist based occur. Granted you're way more likely to be hurt in a car crash or some other transportation accident, but the thought still remains. Whats even worse is we're not that much safer in our homes either. Burglaries, break ins turning into robberies/assaults, homicides. That is one reason why I moved into the country to get away from the cities/suburbs.

 

As for who might be responsible, their are a couple semi credible sources pointing towards possibly Al Qaeda. But if it was an Al Qaeda cell, someone likely would have claimed credit for the attack. Thats the thing with foreign terrorist organizations. You never know if they're acting as a whole or as a separate cell/splinter faction.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths. 

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness. 

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago. 

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

I like how they basically accused the saudi of being a possible suspect because he was just simply running away. I dont know about you guys but if a bomb went off in my area and if i got hurt i would run to. And then they searched his house, how is the guy supposed to tell them that they cant search his house with out a warrent and such when he is in the hospital and un-capable of moving.

 

And then there is the fact that he smelled like explosives. Wouldnt everyone that got caught in the explosion smell like explosives as well.

 

Like everyone else i want the person behind this horrific event to be caught and hanged for his crimes.

 

But it to me it looks like this guy is being accused as a possible suspect and having his house broken into by authorities to have his house searched with out him actually being their to tell them otherwise. At they same time they have him under lockdown and are questioning him in his current condition and who knows what else their doing to him.

 

 

And there doing all of this because he is simply a Saudi, sounds like racial profiling to me.

 

Plus im sure that we all know that whoever was behind this wouldnt stick around to see the bombs go off, the attacker most likely retreated to a safe location and then watched the chaos to only leave afterwards.

^I haven't heard about the Saudi incident so I can't really comment on that but if it is true it is pretty sad.

 

I just read on CNN that at least 1 of the 2 bombs was inside of a pressure cooker inside a  backpack dumped into a trash can. They said it was filled with nails and ball bearings, they haven't concluded if the second bomb was the same model. It seems they were timed detonations yet they haven't been able to nail that down yet.

While all this was going down one of the senators of massachussetts recieved a letter that was intercepted by the government and found out that the letter was carrying the poison ricin which is highly deadly and can kill you in 36 hours and there is no cure. On the same day i believe or maybe a day later, a letter was sent to obama which was once again intercepted by the government due to suspecion and they rain a test and after the first preliminary test they detected the poison ricin once again.

Still an interesting question of who is behind it. Usually by now, a group claims responsibility for this. It is odd, and perhaps more terrifying for the fact the motive is unknown. As for this sudden suspicision of anyone who is even from the Middle East, when the hell are we going to get over this shit? They're American just as we are, there are stories from 9/11 of a Muslim helping a Jewish man run away from the falling towers. People, regardless of where they are from, get hurt in events like this and die. There are terrible people out there and I truly hope this incident doesn't cause people to once again become more suspicious against certain groups. It has happened enough, the best reaction to this event to unite together stronger and not let it break us.

I saw on some news report there was only 2 and both went off.

^ thats the problem with american media each news station tells you something different, some will say 2 bombs others say 6, so i just simply looked it up and found information based on what the authorities said, those sound much more accurate then news stations in my opinion.

 

And Mia i strongly agree and i am friends with muslims that agree that who is ever behind this needs to be brought to justice and pay for his or her crime.

Nvm. Multiple reports were stating that an arrest had been made in connection with the bombing, but they Feds are now saying that no arrest was made.

^Boston Authorities said that they have no suspects in custody. Bunch of misinformation floating around everywhere. It is odd, like Mia said, that a group/person has not claimed responsibility yet. I personally think it is a domestic attack by somebody here, not abroad, nontheless however it is an at of terrorism and I hope that swift justice will follow.

Yep, they arrested him... he lived in Mississippi. The Ricin incident and the Boston incident aren't related however.

Yes there is, and having muslim/hindu/shik friends makes me see just how many people do this in our country. Unfortunately it is much of the older, white male population. Kids nowadays are much more understanding of differences than say their parents/grandparents.
