My guess here is the Germans, knowing a draw will see them and the US through, will take it easy. There's precedent for that happening.

Klinsmann probably called up Germans coach after and was like, so how about we play to a tie lol. That way both go through and both don't have to go hard. I can fully see US German game not being all the exciting since both will advance with a tie. I would imagine the Ghana Portugal game will be a lot more entertaining to watch

I don't think the Germans gain anything by letting the US through, other than they just let a solid team who seems to be really hungry into the knockout round. I see a lot of fans banking on this draw scenario and I'm not really feeling it =\

Of course they do. If they play for a tie, they get to rest their players for later games, which is a big deal when you talk about how hot and humid it is. They also lesson the chance of injuries to their top players, and getting cards. Also a tie would give them first place no matter what. Tbh if I was Germany, I'd much rather have the US then Ghana, as Ghana just ties Germany and Ghana for most part controlled the US game, but lost.

The upside is Germany can rest their injured players for the knockout stage if they decide to play for the draw.
The downside is they look like dorks doing it.
They finish first by winning or drawing, due to goal differential. They risk not making the next round by losing. Ghana is very dangerous, maybe more dangerous than the US, and I think Germany would prefer the US went through.

The final is either gonna be netherlands vs brazil or netherlands vs germany. I root for the netherlands, great solid team. Im not dutch though, my country didn't qualify for world cup after we lost to ukraine! Poland
