Very much a lapsed one since the gay marriage debate but can understand a lot of their viewpoints.

What are your questions? Maybe someone can answer them without being a RC. A lot can be found in the Bible, for those who've read it without believing

This is true. Many have tried to use exorcisms already to get rid of me. It never works.

Asatruar, here. Although I was raised catholic, forced to attend church, religious studies, complete sacraments, etc. So I have a fairly good knowledge of the religion, I'm interested to see your questions.

Well, I would like to get married one day and the girl I am talking to wants to do it in the Catholic church and she is a member and I was wondering how do you do it in the church and what is there all to do and what is it all about?

here is what she said

Lots lol...5 counseling sessions with the priest signed affidavits from 2 witnesses each...and an engagement encounter that lasts a day and a personality test and a questionnaire before beginning the whole process

You'll probably need a few sacraments first. I'm fairly sure you have to be at least baptized in fire and blood to have a church wedding.

Essentially the Catholic church does not marry non-Catholics in their churches. How committed you need to be will depend on the priest. They also take the vow before God part seriously, so effectively they e,left a period of support and testing to ensure you can keep the vow and fully understand what that entails.

I'll type out my experiences regarding this, since I went through what you described. However I'm on my mobile so I can give you a better answer tomorrow.

Some priests do the process differently. One may give more leniency regarding the prerequisites, while others can be very strict. In the case of my sister in laws husband, they chose a more relaxed priest. Her fiancé was in the Navy so the two of them couldn't attend much. Come to think of it, I don't think he had to do much when it came to converting. Granted, they had it easy because he was in the military and wasn't able to take much time off.

The idea of war is not to die for your country, it's to make the enemy die for his.

Icewolf that's not entirely true. Catholics are encouraged to marry other Catholics, but there is a procedure to have a mixed religion marriage sanctioned by the Catholic Church.

I'd have to find the link, but I did see it researching it for my brother-in-law when we were considering him as godparents for my daughter. It's a royal pain in the ass.

I'm a recovering Catholic.

Traditionalist RC here.

Well tbh the rules are clear and should be adhered to, without undue leniency from a particular priest.

The point of issue of course is the preservation and protection of the everlasting soul of the Catholic, in spite of being in a marriage with a non-Catholic and ensure that any issue from south a union would be educated in the Catholic Church (and obviously baptized).

Baptized minimally, communion plausibly. Note that you will have to get a sit-down (plural) with the priest anyway, regardless of your religious background.

Probably some group "events", having your face seen on a sunday morning and not claiming to belief in Cthulhu should do you fine already.
