You think that is bad. I'm still getting Billing emails from Sprint after my 2 year contract expired. Which expired about 3-4 months ago. It was ridiculous the amount of work that had to go into letting it expire. First I called and said I wasn't renewing my contract (which has two phones under it). Then I get a bill a couple weeks later saying I owe a ton of money because my 2nd line is still active, which they never cancelled. When I asked them why, they acted completely dumbfounded and said they had no idea that I wanted to cancel BOTH lines. Sprint 'assumed' I only meant to cancel my first line, which then renewed my 2nd line for another 2 year contract...

 

After days of waiting, multiple phone calls to supervisors (which I recorded as proof), they finally agreed to cancel my contract entirely. I was on the verge of reporting them to the BBB and the New York State General Attorney's Office, and decided to give Sprint one more chance at redemption. I then recieved a call from some high level supervisor saying everything was being dropped/cancelled. All I had to pay was my last month's bill which I owed them anyway (I held off on paying it until everything was sorted out. I wasn't about to give them money while they let this mistake keep building).

 

I thought it was all done until about a month later when I received another bill, but instead it was a credit toward my account for like $1.30 or something like that. And this happens every month. My account isn't active and no credit card is tied to the account anymore. So I'm not actually receiving any money, considering I'm not owed anything.

 

The whole situation was made much more complicated than it needed to be and that is why I will never sign another phone contract in my life. Sprint was great for me in my 4-5 years of service. I wouldv'e recommended them to anyone, right up until my contract was supossed to expire. And thats when I lost all respect for them. Sprint may be inexpensive and offer some nice perks that other carries don't have, but I would never go back to them. Sadly, no phone company these days is actually good. Almost all of them are greedy/manipulative/evil, and its all about finding the one that is only slightly less evil. Seems in the US, pay as you go phones are your best bet. If you don't like your provider or want a new phone you don't pay any fees. I personally use Straight Talk now and I love it. I pay less for 2 lines than I had with Sprint, have smartphones instead of basic low end flip phones, and unlimited everything.

Its no secret Comcast's call centers are all kinds of fucked up, I deal with it all the time and it just makes my job harder :/

 

but even still this is just the reps own stupidity, it actually sounds like he is just pissed off in general and decided to bring it to work. Regardless he certainly doesn't work there anymore.

Comcast Service Reps are horrible, and the features on want on my internet, say, OPEN NAT TYPE, change to strict, after a month of talking to them. While my internet may be fast, I don't appreciate the hassles I've had to go through with Comcast. Its not like Centurylink, where they do everything possible for you, even if its not there department. The internet reps are just as bad. Its why I just kind of deal with it now. I've given up trying to fix this shit. The few times I started getting frustrated with Centurylink, they did everything possible to fix it, even bill reductions I never asked for if I'm really frustrated. I honestly should've never left Centurylink. Its been nothing but a pain for a little cheaper price.

This is a great thread.  DeathMerchant, I completely feel you on Sprint.  I've had them for years, even though I usually switch up service every two years, chasing the best deals.  Rather than keep doing that, I call my cable and phone providers annually (usually after surfing the web to see what great deals they are currently offering) and getting them to package more stuff at no cost or providing a bigger discount.

 

So last night about 7pm a Time Warner guy shows up at my house saying they want to offer a free upgrade to their Ultimate package.  It is a customer loyalty program according to him.  Current speed is 100/5 mbps and eventually up to 300 mbps download. The reality is I live in Kansas City and Google Fiber has been buried in my front yard and I am waiting on a date in the Spring for their service to be connected to my house.  I imagine that's when Time Warner will have faster service as well.  So anyway, I am down with free stuff.  I currenttly pay them 65 a month for 35/5 mbps which is usually fast enough for most things I do.  So he realizes I have my own modem and router and while my currently modem (Motorola Surfboard DOCSIS 3.0) is rated to handle over 300 mbps the people he talks with on the phone seem to think I will need their modem when these speeds over 100 eventually arrive and want to charge me 5 bucks a month to rent their modem. 

 

Rather than just accept an increase of 5 bucks a month after he got in my door by saying "free upgrade" I tell them that is unsat and ask them if I was on the basic cable plan (15/1) paying 40 bucks a month, would he also offer me this free upgrade.  The answer is yes, so I ask them to comp 5 bucks to the account.  He talked to two people and they didn't get it, so then I had them downgrade my service to basic and then give me the free upgrade to Ultimate so they could charge me the 5 more bucks for using their modem that I don't need to use.  New cable bill is 45 a month.  The best part is that in a month I will swap back to my modem and return their shit to save the extra 5 bucks.  I take that back; the real best part is I can't wait for Google to be connected to my house so I won't have to ever deal with Time Warner again.

I can now officially relate to this. It went something like:

Me: "I don't want your phone service anymore and I want a slower internet speed."

Verizon: "OK, Done"

Me: *Gets ridiculously enormous bill next month*

Me: "Um... Excuse me, why is my bill hundreds of dollars just for some WiFi?"

Verizon: "Oh, well you have a phone and our fastest internet speed"

Me: "No.... I don't....."

Verizon: "Says here you do."

Me: "I want to speak to your manager."

Verizon: *Hangs up*

So I call back like 3 times, and oddly enough my bill has only increased by $100 and I apparently still have phone service that doesn't even work...
So fucking awesome!

*Shreads bill*

Well, I've raised hell with cricket before. apparently I didn't do a good enough job last time as they decided to do something similar this month. (Luckly they lowered my monthly bill or I would of dropped them.)

 

OH BTW. if you have the old cricket phone meaning had them for a little less than a year from now. sometime next spring, they'll force you to buy a new phone to keep your service with cricket as we're switching over to the "New and improved Cricket" (Its a complete downgrade). When they told me that, I looked at the lady like, are you kidding me? Shoot yourself in the foot why don't you. and the exact words out of my mouth and I could not stop myself. "well, that stupid." Then the lady gave me a funny look and I didn't back down. Btw, i'm still thinking about switching to a different service. Luckily I'm too lazy as I like my phone and idk who'd pick it up.
