Poll of the Day: Which historical event would you have most wanted to be present for? Assume that you would not have been in any danger and that you would have simply gotten to witness the event live.

Apollo 11. I would rather see an achievement than the destruction of the other three.

Allied Invasion.

Some of the pretext was BS, but where else would you see so many sacrificing so much for so many.  The results, both horrific and glorious are histor/y/ic.

D-Day, just cause that is actually something to see in your own eyes. The plagues are a nice tale, the a-bombs are kinda short lived events and Apollo 11 is very difficult to watch in its entirty + hardly anything actually happens.

It hurt to make the choice but I went with Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Each of the choices are places I would feel amazed to experience but there is a sort of drive for me to see humanity at its most destructive... most deadly, in not only what the bombs did, but also what horror we had just created, and if we would face the bomb in a future World War. However, it is in this experience that we can remember, be amazed... and thankful for the acts of kindness and sheer unity that we show as humanity in time of need.

To see us at our best... we must experience ourselves at our worst.

That is my belief.

Since I am a World War II history buff got to go with Allied Normandy. Shouldn't have chosen Stalingrad? That wouldve been more epic for me to witness, urban witness with nearly the whole city destroyed.

The 10 plagues.

I already saw Normandy (thanks to Steven Spielberg), as with Apollo (dunno who directed it). Hiroshima is not something I'd want to see as it would haunt me forever.

The plagues now...that would be a thing. not only an era far away, but it would actually proof that there is indeed a God, and I'd become a Christian (or I'd stay an atheist).

Cool. A poll I find interesting.

The bombing of Japan would just be horrific. It was a justified evil.

Apollo 11 would be visually spectacular... but would not change anything.

Normandy invasion... I would be too tempted to alter history.

Now that 10 plagues one would answer many questions. That's the big one, and significant.

I choose Normandy. Though I dunno if I could take all the carnage. I'd rather witness the decision making and battle planning while the battle took place from the generals and staff.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki for me, I've always been fascinated with mans ceaseless efforts to extinguish himself and/or his brothers from this world. I would have loved to have seen the greatest attempt at finishing the job. From a 'Cancer-free' distance away of course.

Battle of Shipka for me, was it horrible, yes absolutely but just seeing this big achievement for my country makes me proud and I really want to witness it
  • 2 weeks later...

Allied invasion. I would have tried changing course of the war.
