June 1, 201511 yr comment_782062 Now to see if the Olympics gets hit, too. I don't know why cities bother applying to host global events like this. You get a little prestige and tourism, but end up spending far more on facilities and useless "infrastructure" to satisfy the pride of the organizers. The 2000 Olympics led Greece to its current insolvency, and I can only hope Russia keeps wasting money on the Olympics.Actually,Greece hosted the Games in 2004.However,the Olympics in Athens were only ONE of the factors that led Greece's economy to the current ''almost-bankrupt'' situation. June 2, 201511 yr comment_782238 guess them going for the #2 did it for him. Probably not cause of the scandal of the #2 being taken down, but cause that #2 probably blackmailed himself into the #2 seat and now that he is getting "attention", it could blow up in his face all together Report
June 2, 201511 yr comment_782256 My guess is UEFA, the US, Canada, and perhaps Mexico actually told Blatter they were leaving FIFA unless he went. Tho the #2 getting busted didn't hurt either. Report
June 3, 201511 yr comment_782259 The #2 is a real piece of work I'd imagine. Our national news went on a little "this guy is a crook" rampage over him, something they hardly ever do (heck they don't even paint Putin as bad as he might be in Russian fairytales) Report
June 3, 201511 yr Author comment_782281 UEFA is planning to leave and the elected Vice President planned on resigning if blatter did not resign. I wonder how the World Cup is going to play out. Also the sponsors are getting risky about their dealership with Fifa. Why don't we move the World Cup to the U.S. Instead of Qatar? Report
June 3, 201511 yr Author comment_782290 I heard blatter is planning to resign because he is getting so much pressure at this point. Report
June 3, 201511 yr comment_782296 I heard blatter is planning to resign because he is getting so much pressure at this point. He already did resign lol. World Cup at this point costs way too much money and doesn't bring enough revenue back. Take Brazil as an example, World Cup 2014 and Olympics 2016, too much money spent on building these stadiums. Some people in Brazil are protesting that the government is spending too much money. Report

I doubt they could build the stadiums in the matter of 7 years. Russia wasn't ready in time for the Sochi Winter Olympics but they have better infrastructure than Qatar. Qatar is an exception, it shouldn't be deserved of hosting a World Cup at all. Report

June 3, 201511 yr comment_782405 I'll go out on a limb here and say Qatar won't happen. The fact that they're planning on holding it in December of 2022 has the European leagues in a tizzy. It's gonna get changed, or UEFA won't participate. That's my guess. Report
June 3, 201511 yr comment_782419 Are they also going to investigate all past WC finals awards under Blatter? They're investigating the future 2 world cups under the same corrupt leadership, not gonna investigate the past few cups under more or less the same clique? Aye, it's more about prestige these days tbh, and out of all the countries mentioned such as Russia, US etc, Qatar could actually blow the money and not notice it. Tho, all the labor issues need to be seriously looked at. Report

Also if the World Cup were to take place in Qatar it would've have to take place in the winter and in the night. They should've picked UAE it's a more suitable area for me. Qatar to me sounds like the home of the terrorists and where human rights are violated despite producing a lot of gas. I would say a disaster could happen in Qatar, could be more risky of terrorist attack if they find terrorists. The powers can't already decided that but they have an option to boycott. Report
