FIFA & Corruption

So recently the US Department of Justice indicted fourteen people in connection with bribery and corruption charges.

The FBI recently raided a headquarters of FIFA's affiliate in the US.

So did the Swiss government.

Do you think the World Cup should take place in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022?

Personally the Qatar one, I oppose the most.

Qatar will stay, they have less "issues" to deal with to get stadiums build in time then the Russians.

I prefer the opposite around honestly. We still hosted the Winter Olympics despite not finished with construction. However Qatar is a different story. Did you see my previous points of why it shouldn't take place in Qatar?
Wel part of the reason they went with Qatar was also the lack of any African/Asian WC in the past (South Africa firstly, Qatar secondly).

and if the powers that be really cared about them construction workers, they would have flung any candidacy out of the window in the first place >_>

You know some of these were workers are Nepalese and some have relatives in the recent two earthquakes. Also if the World Cup were to take place in Qatar it would've have to take place in the winter and in the night.

They should've picked UAE it's a more suitable area for me. Qatar to me sounds like the home of the terrorists and where human rights are violated despite producing a lot of gas.

I would say a disaster could happen in Qatar, could be more risky of terrorist attack if they find terrorists.

The powers can't already decided that but they have an option to boycott.

Labor laws you could question (about a shit load.of countries that wanna host the.cup) , Regarding terrorism, have you done some research or is it just what you "feel". (Aka stereotype) ? Their security forces are actually very very efficient,..theyve had like one terror attack I think and that was back in 2005, which tbh makes their track record much better than all nations that have hosted WC.

Tbh, and unfortunately, no one gives a rats ass about human rights, if they did, pretty much everyone would be out of the race, its all about the money. Deals have been signed, millions if not billions are locked, it would be legal quagmire to unlock all that.

UEA is better then Qatar in your eyes, grats? Guess Bahrein is at the bottom of your "nicest of the Arabian Peninsula small nations" list? :D

You don't hear bad things about UEA cause nobody knows what it actually is, they do know what it is when you mention Dubai.

UAE u mean not UEA?

Well every country has a bad history but Qatar to me is a weird country with connections to terrorism and some sort.

Well let me just clarify one thing on this issue. I think I speak for all South Africans when I say that it came as a huge shock and we were all completely surprised when allegations surfaced that the South African government bribed an institution to get what it wants, because the South African government would never contradict its own statements that democratic principles such as accountability (more importantly financial accountability) should be adhered to at all times.
