So with the new 3.0 update on the PS4, we now have the ability to create/join communities.

With that said i've just created the IRON Gaming community on PS4.

I've added Pief, Zachh & Commander Shephard so far.

If anyone has PS4 and i've missed them, drop your names here and i'll add you too

My plans got canceled and I should be free all day tomorrow. I'll add you soon, then we can spank some booty! Trying to finish up my PC right now.

boy you not spanking no booty without me on your team

I'm using Amazon to buy my hard drive. Just noticed it now says some products don't deliver to Ireland, the Samsungs at least.

The data transfer rate seems important, I notice a lot are just over 600 Megabits per a second. The PS4 needs 4.8 Gps?

These ones are 1 TB:

1) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-inch-5400RPM-SATA-Drive/dp/B007NVGWV0/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1449491432&sr=1-2&keywords=ps4+harddrives

2) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B00UNA1IE4/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1449491432&sr=1-5&keywords=ps4+harddrives (This one specifically mentions the Xbox Consoles). Not sure if it compatible with the PS4 but since it has 2TB, 5000 Mps data transfer rate it seems ideal.

If data transfer rate isn't critical to playing the console:

3) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Backup-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B00G7LQAQY/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1449491432&sr=1-6&keywords=ps4+harddrives (This one is 2TB)

I guess have I limited options but they seem like decent replacements, the 2TB is best selling point, 1TB isn't ideal. I use amazon because of the free shipping. Any thoughts on best ones to get in UK and Ireland?

2.5 inch HDD

9.5mm tall

SATA connection

I assume 2) and 3) have the SATA connection. Reviews on 3) say it works on the PS4 anyway.

If you want performance, then I would suggest getting a 248+ GB SSD and then a 1-2 TB Expansion drive (Like 2 or 3). Mine

2 and 3 don't look to be SATA judging by the slots. They're just drives for storage and to hold games. This means they always need to use a USB slot.

If you want performance and space all in one drive, then I would suggest a hybrid drive. It basically has an allotted 120gb which provides the SSD portion and then 940gb+ for storage. SSHD (Also available on Amazon)

I went with the 2 TB seagate backup, which I know works.  Haven't had any issues or problems with play-ability.  My buddy used the same one, and it's the most common one mentioned on forums/sites to upgrade too, for 2TB.

I was looking at the performance, the most notable difference is GTA loading times which is a good reason to buy a SSD or a 7200RPM hard drive.

Thanks for the links, I will look into into them.

The one you linked didn't specific SATA I think, Hung Wang says this...

How do the Seagate backups work for the PS4?

I believe backups work via USB. When I transferred over, I had backed up all my data via USB. A drive cannot serve directly as the operating system unless it goes into the SATA slot inside the PS4, to my knowledge. It can however contain all of your games but the games can't run off the drives. USB 3.0 can transfer at rates of 640 MBps, which is 10x faster than USB 2.0. PS4 utilizes the USB 3.0.

absolute nerd.

What is perks of it being SATA for the PS4? Do things load faster, speaking mainly about accessing the games and other content.

That is the exact one I bought.  The one you linked on Amazon looks to be the exact same, just in grey, not black.  This has a eSATA drive.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESATAp)  It works with both SATA and USB.  Once you take the HDD out of the seagate enclosure, you pull back some sticky foil, and you remove the USB connection plugged into the SATA end.  Then you just take out the PS4 HDD, and the Seagate will slide right in (no need for USB, it fits into the SATA drive of the PS4 just like the original HDD).

When you do this (I think the video I posted shows this as well), you can connect the USB connection to the PS4 HDD, put the foil back on, and stick back into the original Segate enclosure, and now you have a Portable 500GB external harddrive.

I do not know about the others, but I can tell you for 100% certainty, the 2TB segate slim external harddrive will work, and will fit into the PS4's SATA drive just like the original HDD.  You don't have to worry about USB or any of that, and the plus side, you will have a 2TB PS4, and a 500GB external HDD with enclosure.

The earlier video I posted will show you all this as well.  If you go this route and have any questions the video doesn't help out with, I'll be happy to help.  The only thing besides changing out the HDD's is downloading the PS4 file on a memory stick (need at least 1 gig i think).  I posted a link above the video with all the steps as well.

I don't know how a USB would be to use to save your games to and access in your PS4.  My guess, it will likely be a nightmare.  I have read mix comments, but it seems like though you can save some stuff your external, you cant install the game from a USB on a ps4, thus you wouldn't be able to actually play the game.

My honest suggestion, stick to a HDD that know will work in the ps4 and go with that.  There are options as you've shown that work, it really depends if you want a 1TB or a 2TB.

Yeah I'll be getting the 2TB Seagate backup then, I really just want something that I can put in and never have to deal with again. 1TB doesn't quite do that job.

Yea, what i was looking for.  Works great, having 2TB now i can load all my games i own on and have plenty of leftover space.

Got the 2TB Seagate Backup Plus hard drive a few days ago, really helps a lot in removing the caring about space. Messed up backing up my PS4 games though but I'm only playing one atm and I only own 5 game titles not including the free ones so it wasn't a big issue.

Now I just need games to fill it up, waiting for some sales again, missed a bunch of the last ones.

Good to hear it worked out.  Yea, I made sure to back them up.  You probably still could do so if you really wanted to, and just put back in the old HDD

If you guys are here, hop on.

I just went 6 for 6 games of TDM just now, never below a 2.4 KDR... oh lordie! Of course if you join, I'm sure that'll change...

camper.

Anyone pick up any games in the January Sale?

I got 4 games, TES Online, Dragon Age GOTY, Destiny + All DLC, infamous First light.

I hear Destiny isn't that good but I'll enjoy it anyway and it's for a reasonable price as are the others in my opinion. First Light was free at one point I think but meh I don't want to wait any longer.

The only other two games I'm desperate for is Phantom Rain and The Witcher 3 GOTY, not quite in the price range I want them to be though.

I'm down for Destiny if you want to do some raids. Did you just start?

Nah I'm still downloading it, will take a while before I play it.

I'm mainly playing TES: Online atm.

Destiny was good for awhile, i played since it first came out, up to a few months after Taken King came out.  It's pretty repetitive, and I honestly had to go away from it for awhile.  Had all 3 of my characters 310+ before I took a break, and after beating the hard raid on Taken King.  I don't know if I'll ever return, it was a good while I played, but that was mainly because not many other games caught my interest.

Heard Witcher 3 is good, but I'm still busy with COD and Fallout combination.  I played the first infamous which I liked (it was free game back on ps3 after they got hacked), but haven't played any since.

he doesn't win games without me playing with him.

Most of the time when I die, it's right after 5 kills and before getting 9 or 10. Usually I'm reloading or I run out of ammo on my main gun when shooting. Believe me, I would just pick up another gun, but I get so into it and I rarely stop moving.

One time I was 19-0 and had to run around looking for a gun, ended up killing someone with my hands before getting shot down.

Maybe I'll upload some gameplay if you want to test me more. llol

Nice stats
