"The Supreme Court is there to make sure all laws passed by Congress are Constitutional."

So what's all the fuss about regarding Obamacare?

Really? You don't know this yet?
well, I do have a certain level of interest in what happens in your politics to the effect how it would translate to policy and actions that affects my country and the region.

To be honest I still haven't grasped my way around the whole Obamacare.thing, interesntgly I do have some work experience in your medical industry (kinda data consultant, making sure doctors efficiently get paid for the HCFA forms submitted in most efficient manners)

Well Obamacare is about the same as the Federal Government requiring every American citizen that breathes air to buy a Porterhouse steak every night for dinner... because we all must eat. Don't worry if you can't afford it because we have all these people that make money that will pay for your steak for you. The beef companies are having the time of their lives, because now it's a law that every living citizen now must, by law, buy their product... "Golly Gee Morgan! How high can our prices go?".

Mandating purchase of a product does not give people a monopoly. It is a mandatory requirement to have car insurance to drive a car and there is a highly competitive market. Likewise it is a mandatory requirement (not by law but by customary standard) to have fire insurance if you have a home, yet there is still a competitive market. It is mandatory for an employer to have employee insurance, or for a public building owner to have occupiers liability insurance, or for any kind of professional to have professional indemnity insurance.

These markets are all still competitive. Blaming mandatory purchase for high prices is not an automatic government failure, there is a market failure at the same time.

You're a real smart guy, aren't you?

States have passed their own individual laws regarding car insurance... not the Federal Government. You are only required to purchase car insurance if you drive a car. I don't drive cars... so I don't pay for car insurance.

You are required by the mortgage holder on your house to pay for insurance... not the Federal Government... if you don't own a house, you don't pay for it.

If you employ people, you have to pay for workman's compensation. If you don't employ people, you don't have to pay for it.

None of your examples are remotely the same.

EDIT: Oh sorry, I forgot to add that the IRS doesn't levy a penalty/fine/tax on me for not paying for any of the above.

Funny, I used to watch Dragnet when I was a kid. This was made back in 2010, and everything Obama says will happen if the ACA doesn't get passed has happened since it was passed. Such a liar.

oke, no visiting anyone with a medical occupation for you.

Wrong again, we have health insurance, paid for by us, through my wife's employer... although we pay far too much for it.

You pay too much because the healthcare companies hold a monopoly and do not wish to be competitive as they know people will buy it anyway.

not a monopoly, just rigging the entire thing and keeping out of eachothers costumer area, its like americans only have 1 internet provider in an area.

just greed :D

Whether or not those markets have 100% coverage, there is no logical reason why a market for which there is mandated 80% coverage should be more competitive than one with mandated 100% coverage. Everybody has to have food, however there is still a competitive market for food.

The Supreme Court ruled in a 5 to 4 vote that the penalty is a tax... even though to get the bill passed in the Senate, they had to convince each other that it was a penalty, and not the largest tax increase in American history. They carried the lie, and called it a penalty, until the Obama Administration was defending it in the Supreme Court... suddenly it became a tax. Congress has the power to tax. So they lied to everyone the entire time.

Saw it, I actually find it lacking.

Also LOL at taking the oil. I hear he also said he would go take the Saudi's oil, have fun with that.

I too find it lacking, but there is only so much you can say in 30 seconds. Two things that make me go "huh?" are "Until we figure it out" and "Take their oil". One sounds like a weak position and the other sounds criminal... but this is Trump, and I believe he will find a way to do everything he says he will do. What I liked about it was it sticks to his positions... it doesn't attack any other candidates.

I don't know what to think. I'm seeing this everywhere, and the last time I saw it, Obama was elected President. Every day I see more and more people conceding that Trump will be the next President. No politician fills a stadium in Red Mississippi one day, and then fills a stadium in Blue Massachusetts the next. I think everyone better get used to President Trump.

The ACA is very poorly written law. But that's what happens when you let Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid write it.

And yes, I'm a democrat.

This is what you get when neither party does what's good for AMERICA and only what does good for their PARTY.

If you remember that meeting in 2010 or whenever it was, where all the GOP did was sit there and say no for 8 hours...if they had instead offered up solutions, and maybe both sides sat down and COMPROMISED, maybe we'd have a good law.

I'll disagree with you Lys: Heath care *is* a right, not a privilege, as most of you GOPers think it is.

But yeah, the ACA is terrible law. It needs real fixing, but nobody seems to have the desire to sit down and do HARD work. They just want it handed to them.

*mutters incoherently*

I'll disagree with you Lys: Heath care *is* a right, not a privilege, as most of you GOPers think it is.

Nothing can be a "right" that costs money, and people have to be highly trained to supply you that "right". You will then have conflicting rights, as in my right to charge as much as the market will bear for me supplying a service. One right cannot limit, control, or cancel another right. Rights are free, and everyone has them. You have the right to bear arms, but you do not have a right to have everyone else buy you a gun. This "right to healthcare" does not work in a capitalist nation. It may seem harsh but if people don't care enough about their own lives to take care of themselves, then I don't care what happens to them.

But then you deny health care to those who can't afford it. And that's abhorrent and immoral.

We could very easily have a system like the NHS in the UK here in the US. But that comes down to hard work and the give and take to make that happen, which won't happen because "SOCIALISM!" and "STATES RIGHTS!!"

That's what we have Medicaid for. The only thing the ACA has done is make healthcare unaffordable for all the people who were already paying for it. People used to get into medicine because they wanted to help people... now they want to get rich. The abortion industry is totally built on getting rich. Hard to argue that killing babies doesn't go against that oath to "cause no harm". The ACA is on it's way out. It's not a matter of if... just when.

In head to head polling he is now even managing to lose to Bernie Sanders.

I don't think I need to add more to that statement.

I don't think its gone. It needs major fixing tho, and I've admitted as much.

It can be fixed. And fixed well. But do the politicians have the proper backbone to fix it? Or will the tired old ideologies come into play?

You know, like the one where women are too stupid to know what to do with their bodies....Just because I personally don't agree with abortion doesn't mean that my position is the one EVERYONE should have. That's up to the woman who is considering it. And shaming her is just stupid.

But I digress.
