Trump will not just effect the Washington establishment. It is shown that the only people that really suffer from leaders' decision are the people!

Wow... that is heavy. It is shown? Suffer? Really?

We live in the U.S.A., and I guess "suffering" is defined as having to settle for a 30" flatscreen when you really wanted a 50"... or maybe having to hassle with the iPhone 5 for a while longer and not being able to afford that 6. Do you realize that we actually fight over "how" we receive our healthcare? Some people in this world can't even fight to get it. We have people crying about eating too much red meat... when other people in this world cry about something to eat this week. My heart bleeds over how much you suffer. Does this mean I feel responsible for everyone on Earth? Hell no. I am intelligent enough to know how lucky I am. I just want to keep it that way.

The desire for progress shouldn't be hindered by clinging to the past. And while both sides of the aisles in this elections haven't been further apart from eachother in several decades, you folks still only encompas a narrow view of society.

"The desire for progress shouldn't be hindered by clinging to the past."

What the hell does something like this mean? Are you auditioning for a job writing fortune cookies? I'm not hiring.

It means that while you should remember the past and its good/bad parts, you shouldn't be to conservative and swing into an old fart doing nothing but "In my old day ...".

Claiming you life in the best part/time of the world doesn't mean you can't try to make the other parts/future better nor that you yourself can better/improve the part you are in. Progress can still be made cause perfection doesn't excist. I describe myself as a conservative in the literally meaning of the word, "to conserve", but that doesn't stop me from noticing the shortcommings of today nor the possibilities of tomorrow.

Meanwhile half the Republican party wants to relife the past's darker times (Does Trump want a Jim Crow law 2.0?). On the other side you got half the democratic party trying to take the US so far out of its comfort zone you start wondering if they even life in it presently (like trying to screw over all the egocentric people without looking at the ramifications of said screwing).

EDIT: a little addition unrelated to above paragraphs: Trump wants french economics, scared yet? :D

Did Donald Trump say something bad about Israel or what happened?

Will it hurt him badly? I mean Americans are touchy about Israel......Come to think of it, everyone is touchy about Israel.... :P

Trump spoke to AIPAC a few days ago with a prepared speech that, IMO, really knocked in out of the park. He, like all Presidents, wants to be the one that negotiates peace. I don't believe that is possible. I have a strong feeling his speech was written by Newt Gingrich because it was too perfect. The Jewish vote here in the U.S. usually goes heavy for Democrats. This bullshit Iran deal could turn the vote a bit... we shall see...

Well you said Trump didnt bend over for lobbyists 1 post ago and next post you said he did just that.

wait, I thought he played them like a violin, guess news is different where you hear it :D

Then again I guess a "we should go for a 2-state solution" reply doesn't get cancelled out with a "fuck Iran" :D I ca see how #1 can get some israeli's mad >_>

He didn't "bend over" for them. He's running for President. They all spoke, except for Bernie... which is weird because he's the only Jew of the whole bunch. Just because you are not a politician that is running for President, it doesn't mean that you cede those voters to your opponents. You still have to make your positions clear... or have your opponents define you. Trump did a good job.

tl;dr, if he bends over, it's politics, if he doesnt bends over, that's great, because unlike establishment scum, he isnt a career politician, which one is it?. Trump backtracked from his earlier position where he said he'd be "neutral" and get the deal done, he backtracked from it an hour before, he bent over. "Strong" "high-energy" "winner" doesn't backs out or flip flops, right. Cmon Lys, you're views are contradictions of themselves here.

There were no surprises last night. Ted Cruz crushed Donald Trump in Utah, and claimed all 40 of their delegates. This is the effect of the entire Mormon population siding with their favorite son, Mitt Romney, and voting in a block against Trump.

Donald Trump, on the other hand... did the same thing in Arizona, and claimed all 58 of their delegates. This is the effect of a border state... their concerns and problems have been relentlessly ignored for decades... they finally have their voices heard.

Current Delegate Count (CNN)

Donald Trump - 741 (Nate Silver has him at 754... but I digress)

Ted Cruz - 461

Needed to win - 1,237

Very soon it will be mathematically impossible for Ted Cruz to make the 1,237, and then it will come down to whether or not Trump can hit the magic number. If not... we head to a contested convention, where things can get really interesting.

Lys, has the politics been so polarized before too or is it this particular cycle?

Lys, has the politics been so polarized before too or is it this particular cycle?

There has never been anything like this in my lifetime... the only time I can think of that was anywhere close to this was the election of 1912. Woodrow Wilson (Democrat), Theodore Roosevelt (Progressive), William Howard Taft (Republican), Eugene Debs (Socialist). Roosevelt and Taft split the Republican vote... and we were all blessed with Woodrow Wilson. If we could only go back and somehow get Roosevelt to not run... so much would be different today :)

Yea that was probably a crazy election year. Can't remember if it was that year or another one but Debs set some kind of record number of popular votes for an outside party if I am not mistaken?

Explain the last line... ?

Also, during the Lincoln's time, it was the Republicans that were relatively more progressive than conservative?

These might be silly questions to you Lys :P

Progressive didn't exist then. The Republican Party was founded as the anti-slavery party, and is now the party of American Conservatism. The Democratic Party was the party of Andrew Jackson, and is now the party of American Liberalism.

Explain the last line... ?

The election of Woodrow Wilson began the era of big government, that us Republicans hate so much.

I would rather call it "total government", as it was about then that the whole of US was "properly" colonized/settled and a comprehensive beaurocracy could be established with centralized decision making.

Most people shouting "big government" just want an island to themselfes...
