Gas is dangerous!

Just went down to heat some milk. Lit the stove... BOOM.

Oven had been left slightly open.

Leapt back instantly, but...

GAS IS DANGEROUS!

Another two or three hours and the concentration of gas could have literally blown the stove up by turning a light switch. As it was, it escaped with a yellow flame, a bruised side (from the blast), and knowing to sniff inside the oven carefully after turning it off.

Such a waste of milk :(

but that shouldn't be INSIDE the oven, on the furnace above I can understand that :D

also depending on the gas mixture used, methane has a rather "confined" ingition range, but rather also a small ignition energy :D

Lego, there should be no gas output at all unless the thing is lit.  Something is wrong with your oven.  If the gas is on, the thing should be automatically turned on.  Please ask someone to check it.  I like you too much to have you blown to bits!

When I saw the thread title I thought you were going to talk about a different type of gas, which is indeed very dangerous when it comes from my husband.  I've actually felt my nose hairs curl in reaction to that kind of gas.

Thank you! I know that gas too :P and Wolfpack's type.

I never checked where it came from, but there is a grill on top over two of the six rings and it was blown off. I didn't stop long enough to check, just assumed it was the oven as it had been in use!

Yes, ccabal, I will. The thing is nearly 10y old but has given very little trouble till today.

I'll try and convince the bill-payer to buy an electric one :)

laughing gas isn't as "friendly" as one might expect :D

besides, it is just basic oxygen deprivation intoxication that it gives, the gas itself does nothing. Heck you could go into a lauging fit with CO2 (I don't recommend it thou :D)

Guys I'd really hate to be a party pooper, but please refrain from posting these kinds of things on this part of the forum. This part is used to discus the game and we might want to keep it that way, especially for the newer members in here who could get either confused or incentivized to pull the same stunt.

Could a mod move this to an appropriate section? @@Samus

Also get your oven fixed, gas is not only dangerous to the human body, but also highly dangerous to your living space to if not dealt properly. That shit explodes

y u always tryna make me do work

Holy crap, yes that should be checked!

On another note, this reminds me of my Chemistry class in high school. The teacher I had for that class had severe ADD. So, getting him off track was a rather easy task! While in class one afternoon, we were actually discussing what we were supposed to! Then, the teacher just says "Hey, lets go in the lab, I'll show ya'll something cool!" ... To the lab we went.. The teacher proceeds to get some supplies (a candle, a yardstick, tape, some tubing, soap, water, glycerin, a bowl, and a lighter) and he sits this stuff on the counter, next to a gas outlet. He taped the candle to the end of the yardstick, he then mixed the soap, water, and glycerin together in the bowl and then took and hooked the tubing to the gas outlet. He lit the candle and gave the yardstick to a classmate to hold. He took the other end of the tubing and stuck it in his "bubble mix", and made gas bubbles... then popped them with the candle... The fire clouds across the ceiling were pretty neat to watch.. and thankfully, the ceiling was fire proofed!

I had nitrous oxide once, it put me to sleep.

thats what it is meant to do :D
