Tips/suggestions on a High School summer essay

Featured Replies

Guaranteed almost no one, if anyone has read the book A Separate Peace but if you have I need tips/suggestions with this essay I'm supposed to be writing over the summer for an honors English class.

I need to write a formal essay on how that book relates to the quote by Aristotle "Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies" and it has to be done before my school starts, which is early September (no clue on the exact date, don't even have schedules as of yet). If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. If for some reason you are adamant on helping and have not read the book here is a summary of anything/everything important:https://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature/s/a-separate-peace/book-summary

How many words does it have to be?

dumb part is its a formal essay with NO MORE than 350 WORDS

HAHAHAHA.

350 words?

Dude, I'll write the thing for you for $6m. XD (CN dollars, not real life dollars. Just in case that wasn't *absolutely* clear, LOL.)

I'm working on a law assignment at the moment but I'll read a summary of your book thing later. Then you will be able to draw on my extensive bullshitting ability. (I'm the person who came in the top 50 students in Australia in Scholarship English by writing on stuff I had never formally studied. :P)

OK. What is the exact phrasing of the essay question you have been given?

Aristotle's quote: Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies

How do the characters in A Separate Peace reflect and exemplify the meaning of the quote said by Aristotle. Your task is to address this question in a formal essay of no more than 350 words. Use at least 3 quotes from A Separate Peace to support your claim. You must have a topic sentence and a conclusion as well

example of the quoting format: "Peace had deserted Devon" (Knowles 72)

P.S. what kind of 10th grade HONORS teacher doesn't allow more than 350 words in a formal essay

Alright. Sliding into bullshit mode (I've never read this book.) Question: have you covered anything on Aristotle in class? (I'm thinking of doing a little background research on Aristotle's philosophy of friendship: as a philosophy major I know it was kind of a big deal in his writing, but have never bothered to research it.)

Alright. I have found a good book on Aristotle's philosophy of friendship, should be able to deliver a high quality 350 word essay in a day or two. :P

dont forget you need quotes from the book, just look up a summary and quote some BS and thanks DF you're great

I'm sorry I have not had time to do this. I have been dealing with the sudden death of a family member. However, I recommend you look at "Aristotle and the Philosophy of Friendship" by Lorraine Smith Pangle, which provides some good background to the Aristotle quote and explains more fully what it means. (This should take up a good 100-150 words.) Then you bs your way through the second 150 words applying what you have just said about Aristotle to the book. For this I would use SparkNotes, which provides much better analysis of the themes than Cliff Notes: http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/separate/themes.html I reckon the stuff on co-dependency should be enough for your essay. ;)

I'm really sorry I wasn't able to do it. As I mentioned, I have been dealing with serious stuff in real life. (The funeral was today. :/)

It's fine, family always comes first
