With regard to capital punishment, it doesn't deter crime, it doesn't bring back the victim, and thousands of innocent people have wrongfully put to death for crimes they didn't commit. The upside, some people feel good because they think vengeance has been fulfilled.

My execution method of choice would be firing squad, especially if it were a bullet to the head. It'd be quick and practically painless and then I'd be standing in front of Jesus. Runner up would be beheading. Electric chair, hanging or lethal injection would be horrible, although the latter would be OK if I'd already had a general anaesthetic and wasn't conscious to experience the side effects.

You should look into the costs comparison of death penalty vs life time incarceration.
The US has managed to make it cost more to kill someone than to keep them alive O.o
The death penalty only sometimes makes some people feel a little less shitty. It's simply not worth it.

The costs for the death penalty are ridiculous right now, and it really should't be. Rope is cheap, so are bullets. The former is also reusable.

Yes, but how does that detention cost more than a life sentence?
I'd guess seperation (death row), more legal loops (alot of appeals possible), life sentence usually not complete life (unless the "without parole" offcourse), ...

You're probably right, though the big question is whether the death row inmates could be safely kept with other prisoners, seeing as these are the most high-risk individuals, or would separation be needed anyway.

As with any inmate, I guess the profile of the perp him/herself coupled with the actual criminal offence convicted off. The "dangers" would be higher just because we reserve the death penalty (atleast in US) for only the most henious crimes, no need to believe there would't be "dangers".
