Russian Ambassador shot and killed in Turkey

WARNING! THE VIDEO I LINKED SHOWS THE AMBASSADOR BEING SHOT AND KILLED. I CHOSE NOT TO PUT THIS AS NSFW BECAUSE IT IS A REAL LIFE EVENT.

Russian Turkish relations just took another downturn. An attacker, rumored to be a Turkish Police Officer, murdered a Russian Ambassador during a live video recording.

“Don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria,” the attacker said right after he shot down the ambassador, as seen on a video shared by Turkish media from the scene.
“Whoever took part in this cruelty will pay the price, one by one … Only death will take me from here,” the man said, while carrying a handgun.
The BBC additionally reports that the attacker also said “the Arabic phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is great)” during his rant.

Putin quickly responded with a rational and reserved response. But at usual, people are fabricating stories that WW3 will begin because this is how WW1 started.

And Erdogan just called him an Gulunist, guess he forgot to purge one from the police?

Russia is being extremely "nice" about this cause of the obvious public nature of the event itself, they can't really put much spin on this one.

This came at a really convenient time for certain asshats. I'm not so sure he's a Gulanist, but maybe. My question is why the hell is there seemingly no security for a Russian delegate in a state that has some obviously rough relations with Russia?

He used to be a police officer. Apparently he was fired after the attempted coup.

Every day is eventful when it comes to this Jihadist conflict. You just don't hear about it until someone gets hit by a truck in Germany or a Russian delegate is killed. That's the saddest part.

Aye, people die everyday to terrorists in Muslim majority or third world countries. This is not really duplicity, you tend to focus more on what's closer to you, it's human nature.

Duplicity is supporting and arming extremists for overthrowing regimes. It turned out so bad in Afghanistan in 80s and 90s, and it's turned out so bad in. Libya, then Syria, but no lessons were or are being learned. World needs to completely disconnect them politically and economically, stop seeding them thinking they'll remain stupid pawns for grand political designs.

Weaponsman posted a good article analyzing the incident.

One specific part stands out.

This is in keeping with what is known about Karlov, who disdained armed security, and would not ride in armored vehicles. When Turkish journalists asked him about it (he’s been Ambassador to Turkey since 2013), he told them that “Nobody will do anything to me.”

Already redacted into "on sick leave".

Him getting in is indeed sketchy at first, but I hear his employment wit the riot police department might have gotten him in if he flashed his credentionals.

And Turkey just arrested his entire next of kin.

you may downplay the Brussels one already, while suspected terrorism links were found yes, it was hardly a big raid nor was significant evidence found that anything was going to happen. They just apprehended a radicalized person who started hoarding guns.
