The one thing that blows my mind, is how beyond idiotic those people were who ran behind the car. I get that emotions are high, people are pissed off, not thinking straight, and are looking for an excuse to vent some rage, but you gotta use your brain... You see a car plow into a crowd and people go flying, you see people beating the side of the car, and is now surrounded on all sides by an angry mob carrying weapons who would no doubt beat the driver to death if they managed to pull him out of the vehicle. What do you think that driver is going to do next? Sit their patiently waiting for the Grim Reaper to take his soul? That driver is going to throw the car in reverse and get the heck out of there!

 

Dodge Challengers are powerful vehicles with incredibly impressive acceleration. See how the Challenger pulled out of there like it was nothing? The guy didn't even have to floor it, it seriously looks like he lightly applied the accelerator and away he went! A small mob is not going to stop a vehicle with that much torque. I got a buddy who owns a Challenger RT equipped with the Scat Pack, and that thing tops out at around 185 MPH. He even wants to put in a new exhaust, buy high end racing tries, and get it tuned so it will be capable of over 200 MPH. Once he does that he plans to take it to a drag strip and see how fast he can go, and how quickly he can achieve that speed.

 

So back to the accident, there is a huge amount of speculation taking place and some of the theories being presented range from plausible to complete fabrication. The driver made a lot of really bad choices, the biggest being that he chose to be in that specific location in the first place. But it seems like something huge is missing from the overall picture. I can't put my finger on it, but I am hoping we will get some CCTV or additional phone camera footage of the incident before the driver seemed to randomly accelerate. Until we see all the evidence (everything that will be brought forth during the trial) we can't throw out the possibility that for whatever reason, something happened which caused the driver to panic and accelerate forward, and upon hitting those people and the car in front of him, the driver got even more scared realizing what he had just done (because you see him pause there for about 5 seconds as he eventually puts the car into reverse), and then as the mob swarms his car the driver clearly fears for his life and decides to make an exit.

 

And before anyone says, you're defending the driver, I want to assert that I am most definitely not. If he is found guilty in court then that is what we accept. If he is found innocent, then we accept that too. I am pointing out the facts (at least what is currently known to the public) and offering my observations of how this incident played out.

 

But I will end with this, if I was in that driver's place and if I accidentally hit a bunch of pedestrians plus struck a car in front of me, and I suddenly find myself engulfed by an angry mob beating on my car and windows. And a reasonable fear exists that my life and the lives of any other occupants in the car are in imminent danger. I will do everything in my power to get out of that bad situation by using any means necessary. If I get charged and later convicted, then so be it. But no matter what happens in the aftermath, I still walk away with my life. I would rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6.

He will simply claim he feared for his life, apologize for his mistake, and probably accept a plea deal for Involuntary Manslaughter. He will get somewhere between 5-10, and actually serve 2-5... unless it goes to trial where it will probably hang the jury. This is how justice is served in the US now. Nothing we can do about it.

This is mostly the case of what happens. Both sides have became so entrenched in their own thoughts and beliefs that it's almost as if the idea of what's best for the nation has went out the window and has been replaced by "What's the opposite of what the others support?"

 

You'll find more and more that there is little to no remaining common ground for the extreme left and the extreme right, and progressively the general populous is starting to swing one way or the other because of "the other side's continued BS."

 

Both groups need to sit down and learn to not argue like 10 year olds who played with the other's favorite toy.
