Now, notice how Jar Jar in this next link is JUST as stealthy as his jedi counterparts prior to "botching" his jump, but also notice how he hangs from the left side of the balcony and lands on the right. A clear example of a force-assisted leap.

Watch it in slow motion. Pay attention to the droids heads. They look up where Jar Jar WAS and readjust to where he now is. The directors KNEW Jar Jar would use a force assisted jump, and the droids were slow at releasing it as they were looking at his previous location and had kept their eyes on him the entire jump.

Finally watched it today. I was surprised the movie theater was still so packed... at 10:30 AM. I couldn't even find a good seat.

I probably share many of the grievances, yes. I don't really know what exactly others didn't like, but I'm sure a lot of the same things rubbed people the wrong way as it did me.

I am curious what were the biggest grievances? I didn't HATE it, but I thought it was meh at best and irritating at some moments.

it wasn't a C grade movie but nor was it an A. I'd rate it B, maybe B+ if I were feeling generous.

I enjoyed it overall but disliked how it seemingly ended certain characters. I invested quite a lot of time in theories and research regarding the destiny of certain characters. Then they just died or the truth wasn't anything like I expected. As a standalone movie, I thought it was great.

 

There is a lot of people complaining they didn't show enough about Luke or how powerful he had become. SPOILERS AHEAD. If Luke could project himself across the galaxy, then that in itself shows his true power. To show him running out and senselessly striking down an army in PG-13 fashion would be unnecessary. People still argue who was better - Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Rock? I'm just glad it's in the past and I don't have to look forward to another horrible Luke Skywalker or Han Solo reprisal in the new films.

 

Now, with Snoke, I did theorize him being thwarted in this film. I knew Snoke was going to be betrayed for sure or die after Kylo destroyed his mask. I believe this was a pivotal moment because Kylo's development was so uncertain. He is wiser than the movies will have you believe and I had a flashback to Anakin betraying Obi Wan. Many were thinking, "There's no way he'll die." but when have any dark lords been of importance in these movies? Sure they played dictatorial roles but all they had was a master plan "just because". Darth Sidious was barely a key character in the old trilogy and prequels. All characters like Snoke and Sidious exist for is to manifest the idea that there is a more sinister evil controlling a key character like Kylo. Even Darth Maul was a key character because you care more for what he would do than what the chancellor's plans were during the film.

What I really hate with this new trilogy is that it is not only SUPER inconsistent with other episodes, but it is also incosistent within itself. It seriously seems like they didn't even try to write a story arc for the 3 films, but are instead taking it one at a time, figuring out where to go next seemingly at random. This film was worse than VII for sure. The only new film I liked actually, was Rogue One.
