Youtube HQ Shooting

Featured Replies

Just hear about this on the Phillip DeFranco show today. The story is still developing, all we know as of right now is that it was a female shooter, who injuried 4 people then killed herself.

Google has also made a statement

I have a friend (coworker) who was in the vicinity, but fortunately they weren't injured. They are in a bit of shock, though. Sundar sent an email saying that there were 4 injuries and to put the victims in our thoughts and prayers.

So apparently the shooter is a Vegan/Animal rights activist whose main motivation for the shooting was that YOUTUBE DEMONETIZED HER VIDEOS

Motherfucking Christ, this has to be a new fucking low

It's what California has turned into. YouTube first put out the fake news story that it was a domestic dispute between lovers. They didn't want the story to be an attack on their company. That was quickly crushed by the huge amount of video content she published, and interviews of her family. This will be swept under the carpet quickly because it goes against the gun control mantra in every way.

It happened in California... a state with extremely high gun control already in place. It's a woman, which dashes the profile of the crazy hillbilly white crusader with a gun he shouldn't be allowed to own. It was a handgun which kills the idea that "assault rifles" and high capacity mags are the problem... and she was of sound mind, no criminal background, and purchased the gun legally.

What disturbs me the most is we know everything about her in a matter of days, and still know nothing about the Las Vegas killer.

Probably has to do with the fact that the woman was an attention whore who lived her life on Youtube while the Vegas gunman was a reserved loner...
There are a lot of people who depend on YouTube for their living, and demonetizing videos has a big impact on them. YouTube started increasing video demonetization after advertisers started complaining that their ads were being shown on "objectionable" content, like porn and ISIS recruitment videos. But there's a big gray area where YouTube has to decide whether a video is objectionable or not, and it seems like YouTube errs on the side of the advertisers rather than the content creators.

I know about the "adpocalypse" stuff, and I don't like where YouTube is heading either, but come on...a shooting?

YouTube is a business, and they should be allowed to run their business the way they want to... what is missing is healthy competition. Google, Amazon, and Facebook have way too much power. The big problem is they do nothing to harm the consumer, therefore they are not in violation of anti-trust laws. Something will be done about it because something must be done about it... it's getting out of control. The Facebook thing is no surprise, but everyone is "shocked" about it. Please... there is always a product... and if they don't charge you for something, that means you are the product. I have never trusted Facebook with my information.

On the other hand... you appear to be blaming YouTube for the attack. Let's be honest... and crystal clear. The woman attacked innocent people at their place of work. There is never an excuse for that. It's similar to shooting up the mortgage company because of your foreclosure.

There's no excuse for the woman's gun violence. I'm just saying that the incident sheds light on a trend in YouTube over the last couple of years. I do feel though that YouTube has been starting to improve content creator relations in recent months.
