Truth and common sense is fine, now add decency and we can get somewhere.

I'll stick with just truth and common sense. Empathy has no place in the law. When empathy is infused with the law we get O.J. Simpson not guilty, illegals that murder women not guilty, and stupid confusing law modifications like "Hate Crimes". The law is the law, and there will be millions of different feelings about it after the judgments. That is the time to legislate changes to laws, but they still must apply to all with no empathy. One thing that confuses me is these people that murder pregnant women will get charged with double homicide, but those very same states will do cartwheels to destroy any thought that an unborn baby in the womb is a person. I'm a pro-choice Republican, but I still can't understand how that one works.

 

 

Empathy comes in the sentencing and judgement, not the law itself. If so you would need to abolish "stand my ground" laws as those are feelings aswell...

 

Heck your president just erased Hurricane Harvey from his memories and considerd 3000 dead americans "tremendous".

I think the last movie I walked out of thinking I just saw a good movie was La La Land, and it was because I could relate to the movie so much. I know every location in the film because it was my home, and I lived the life of a struggling musician in Los Angeles.
