Recently the debate on how good Kaepernick was/is has re-surged and that teams are being racist by not signing him and many people are saying he was one of the best QBs playing. Now kneeling aside I wanted to have a discussion just based on this. If you were an NFL owner and have a media circus around a player would you want to sign him. Here is a link to his stats and I will toss a summary down as well.

He was active for 6 seasons

To put these stats into perspective Russell Wilson a top five QB

Here is another top 5 QB Aaron Rodgers

Here is a top 10 QB Philip Rivers

Another top 10 QB Matt Ryan

From what I remember when I watched him play both on TV and in person is he cracks under presser especially after being sac'd more than once. He would get skittish and would run the ball instead of looking for someone to pass when its a pass play. Kaepernick also threw the football like a fastball, which is more of a personal annoyance than anything else, but that also makes it easier to intercept in my opinion.

I'm not a big sports fan anymore. I used to be when I lived in California. I had many friends that loved to watch and talk sports all the time. Since I left them all, I found that I really didn't care about it, so I stopped following it so much.

I believe Kaepernick knew his career was not working out, and he wanted to bring more attention to himself by gaining more celebrity. If getting his name out there was what he wanted to do, it worked. On the other hand, he has become so hated by many sports fans from his disrespect that the NFL owners don't want anything to do with him, and I believe they would prefer that he just didn't exist.

The NFL has been so weak about it that many have just taken a knee to them... and quit buying tickets, or watching the games. I know people that have turned into huge College fans instead, they leave the house to do other things on Sunday, and refuse to turn the NFL on. They watch other things now. Now they are boycotting Nike, and burning their shoes online.

To bring politics into sports was a really poor decision.

I guess I should comment on the man himself, and his abilities.

If he has the confidence of his team, can win games, put butts in the seats, and has the admiration of his employers... he would have a job. Since he doesn't appear to have those qualities, he could buy a car dealership or a bar.

I think you hit it on the nose there. If Brady were the one taking a knee he would still be playing, and in my opinion any of the top 10 QBs wouldn't have lost their jobs over protesting either.

Well the problem there isn't if a bunch of team owners came to that conclusion on their own, but if instead they actively worked together in order to deny him a position. Given some of the utter shit fuckery they NFL has done in the past in order to manage league PR, there is a good reason to expect that they may have done so. I mean let's be frank, the sheer number of shitheel players with media circus around them that NFL teams have been willing to rehabilitate means that the league dumping him doesn't really pass the smell test.

If the league is attempting to enforce that, that is all kinds of illegal. There's also literally no way to drag information about that to light outside of the legal process. There's a fair chance the lawsuit dies in discovery, however the discovery process is about the only way to settle the matter. Unless we want to say  Kaepernick should take the NFLs word that they're totally not engaging in shit fuckery this time we swear, he has more than enough cause to pursue legal action this far at least. And if the discovery process does turn out to be a directed ban, hopefully he takes the NFL for every cent it's worth because fuck that bullshit.

I remember the 2013 NFC championship game when he was relevant and still seemed to care. He seemed to have lost heart and gave up trying somewhere along the way and until he cares about football and striving to be the best again he will never be relevant.

As far as the kneeling thing goes just like it's an individual's right to do what they want, it's the individuals who own the teams he wants to play on to decided to employ him or not. If he actually was willing to sacrifice for something he believed in he wouldn't be whining to a court about how people are expressing their desire to not employ him. It's a rather contradictory approach.

Not to mention his statement of how the "country" is oppressing people of color Is offensive. I'm part of that country he is calling out and I don't know where the fuck he gets off telling me I'm oppressing people...

If he wanted to actually make a difference he would attack the perceived issue and not attack a nation of people of which most would probably take his side and support him in his cause. His execution leaves much to be desired and while he could have potentially done a lot of good, he will instead go down as a footnote in history without having accomplished anything of substance.

I have an idea. Colin can grab all the players that wish to protest the National Anthem, and they can create their own team. They can call themselves the "San Francisco Kneelers", get Nike as a sponsor, NBC can televise all the games, they will have all their fans sitting on their ass while Madonna sings the Star Spangled Banner... she can even change the words like they want to change the Constitution. Winning would be the best revenge, as they all are paid, from each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs.

I thoroughly enjoy people burning Nike clothes/shoes they own like Nike gives a shit they burn stuff they already paid for.  Could of just as easily donated all that to people in need that likely care more they have clothes/shoes then who is on an Ad.  But, it's ones prerogative to do what they want with shit they paid for, just find it comical.  The market will decide if in fact Nike made a good choice or a poor one.

I also enjoy people rushing out to support Nike because of this.  Yes, the same company who is likely paying someone in a sweat shop $.20 an hour to make the things you're buying.  I kinda find it funny they want to be the poster company supporting someone speaking out/standing up to injustices while being apart of injustices elsewhere.

To him kneeling, I could careless.  One has the right to protest as they see fit.  Also, if the NFL or anyone's company don't mind it being done on "their" time, then the whole "doing it on he job," really goes out the window.  I certainly wouldn't have a job, but nonetheless that's up to one's company and how they feel about it.  I've also seen plenty of Vets on both side of the isle on this, but both sides like to parade a Vet that either supports or disapproves of it as if they sum up or speak for all of the troops.  Seems everyone is for one's right to protest as long as it's protesting against something they also are against, otherwise they find something wrong with it.  Dunno, I'm just in the, "I don't give a shit corner," tired of people on either side losing their shit over it.

I wouldn't boycott Nike over Colin thing, but instead because they're a non innovated company. Very little money put back into research, most products are made in China, and are only selling a logo/brand. So Colin fits pretty well as their spokesman

In your face Kaepernick. This post from Mike Rowe turns this issue upside down.

To be fair Nike is a sport related company so it wouldnt make sense to not have someone related to professional sports, and honestly Nike probably wanted the controversy that followed Kaepernick

Very good point.

Aww look at mike rowe wanting to be relevant again.

It was a Facebook post, answering some guys question... not a press release. Rowe is just as relevant now as he has always been, which has always been "not very". The last show I saw him on he was Mike Baxter's brother on "Last Man Standing".

It was a public facebook post by a man who's spent two decades managing his own public image and trading on his public image for money, and is *specifically* a person who's current income derives from his role with facebook.

He knew exactly what he was doing, his motivations are transparent. He posted that, at this time of the year, on that venue because he knew exactly what and how much media traffic it would generate and that it would get his name front and center. Mike Rowe isn't some bumbling idiot, he's a person with a carefully managed public image.

And what he is doing there is cashing in on the name of someone who was murdered, someone who he has almost certainly never met and definitely was not a close friend of in order to leverage the current remembrance of grief and loss to promote his name and his brand. It is absolutely pathetic and utterly vile. He knew *exactly* what he was doing.

I can change a few key words in this and it would apply to Colin Kaepernick. Funny how that works. Rowe inspires Americans to be better Americans. Kappy is making all his money from being an idiot, publicizing he's an idiot, and getting people to feel sorry for him.
