Some I'm sure we've all had/heard of some comical Craigslist stories, so I thought it would be fun to share them.

 

I've sold numerous stuff on Craigslist over the years and most of the time its getting emails from members of the Nigerian Royal Family requesting immediate financial assistance in exchange for later paying me tens of thousands of dollars, people offering super low ball offers, or demanding your address so they can come buy it immediately which after receiving it say its too far even though I already told them which area I live in.

 

But surprisingly I've never been offered anything to trade, until today. I've been trying to sell a C02 airsoft gun for a few weeks and someone finally emailed me. They said:

 

"will you trade it for a 500GB HP notebook laptop touchscreen?"

 

No, I don't want your garbage HP computer... I build my own.

 

So what are your best Craigslist/online selling stories? Feel free to include Ebay ones if you have any!

I use to sell a lot on craiglist.  I use to go to auctions and also storage auctions and resell things, so I've heard pretty much most stories.

 

The most common scam I got was people saying they were out of town, but they'd have so and so come drop it off and they'd email me a check, or would mail the guy picking it up a check to give to me.  Obviously a fake check or would just cancel it.  Got it all the time, or they'd offer me considerably more if I took down the ad and held it for their person to pick up.

 

I wrote an email back to one many years ago, I'll have to see if I can find it.

My friend got one of those once when he was selling some furniture. He was contacted by someone wanting to buy it, saying they were really interested and would send their 'movers' over to pick it up, then give him a check with some extra $ thrown in for waiting around for the 'movers' to come. It all seemed quite legitimate until the person mentioned the 'movers' showing up and giving him extra money, so after that he called it off.

I wonder if they followed through and proved he was in fact the killer. They had to have solid evidence to get the indictment, and his suicide is not the act of an innocent man. I'm sure the fiancé was damaged for life... but it's strange the guy took it so hard that she broke up with him. What the hell did he expect?
