January 24, 20197 yr comment_966749 What is going on in Venezuela?I like following foreign affairs but Venezuela is honestly a shit show. So recently Juan Guiado announced he was running the transitional government by claiming Maduro was a dictator. My question here is how is Guiado able to run anything without being elected? He just announced this, gets Trump's thumbs up, and that is it? I'm not a fan of Maduro at all and honestly he needs to be removed in my opinion (willingly or unwillingly) but replacing him with a leader that isn't elected sounds right on par with their current issues. Maybe @Kasabian can help here since he lives there. I may have my facts all wrong but this is what I've read about and can't find much on it. Report
January 24, 20197 yr comment_966751 I don't know how pervasive Maduro's intelligence service is, but might not want to ask Kasabian to say things that that government might take offense at. Too many folks disappear there. In other news, heard inflation is at 3 MILLION percent. How is that even possible? Large exodus of people... I'm surprised he hasn't closed the borders but it is easier to control fewer folks! Be Safe, Kasabian. Report

Justin Trudeau also came out on the side of Guiado. Many others have followed suit. No one wants to deal with Maduro, and they are supporting the first person the people wish to follow. I think it will be a short revolution, resulting in the exile of Maduro, and the organization of a new government. Maduro really has a choice to leave, or start shooting the population. If he starts shooting, Maduro will die ugly and will probably end up strung up in the square like Mussolini. We all must learn from history or be doomed to repeat it. Report
January 24, 20197 yr comment_966836 Thing is, this kind of deal/scenario has been played out before (multiple times even) and thusfar the city vs. country has been left at a status quo. Unsure if this will be the 1 take to actually get the ruling possie out. Report
