Deadwood, one of the best TV series in history, disappeared without a proper ending in 2006. After 3 seasons, it wasn't even canceled by HBO... they just suddenly opted not to pick up the options for the cast. They promised a movie to finish up the story... but it never happened.

 

Until now.

 

If you have not seen Deadwood, I strongly recommend you watch all 3 seasons. If you fail to heed my recommendation, and forge ahead with watching this movie... be warned that this show has more curse words in a single hour than you will probably hear in a normal year. I will miss Powers Booth, he was a key player, but has since passed away from cancer. Enjoy my friends.

Season's 1 & 2 were awesome. Season 3 was really dull so I didn't miss it when they cancelled the show.

 

Movie may be good though..depending on who's directing it.

Season 3 was really dull

Deadwood was always a devilishly dark show... Season 3 took the darkness to a new level when Swearengen and Bullock encountered an opponent that they couldn't beat. His name was George Hearst. The show always thrived on the strength of the main characters, and showing their weaknesses in Season 3 is what made it dull. I loved it when Dan popped the eye out of the head of Hearst's lackey... but Dan was never the same after that beating. He faced death, and barely won. He never got over that. I'm interested to see how he aged.

The movie premiered tonight, and I finally have closure after 13 years. One thing that I was waiting for was something to happen, or an explanation, of the young girl that came in on the train at the beginning of the movie. She seemed to purposely arrive in Deadwood to get a job at The Gem, and target Al Swearengen for some unknown reason. Nothing ever happened in her storyline.

 

None the less... it was a good way to end this very original series.
