Russia has annexed 4 regions of Ukraine. Putin claims an attack on these regions is an attack on Russia itself, and will respond with all available means, including nuclear weapons. The major questions are as follows:

 

Russia uses a Tactical Nuclear device in Ukraine, how would NATO respond?

 

Would this nuclear device be detonated in western Ukraine to limit radioactive fallout to Russia?

 

How would Europe respond amid the detonation and fallout?

 

Does the current Russian military even possess the necessary means to operate freely within an NBC environment? The Soviet Union had that capability, but the modern day Russian military has proven drastically horrible in the logistics department.

 

Would Russia use only 1 nuclear weapon in a lowly populated area as a show of force?

 

How many of Russia's thousands of nuclear warheads are even operational? Ratio of gravity bombs to ICBMs?

Its a bluff, the use of nuclear weapons is assured mutual destruction. 

 

Even if Putin gave the order, there would likely be a coup within the Russian military to prevent said mutual destruction.

 

Putin knows this which is why he is so brazen about using them, because he knows it will never happen.

Putin has been becoming more and more like a comic book villain. Who knows how Putin will act. There is a ton of corrupt folks in the Russian govt and Putin allies have been having "accidents" so its possible they are planning on assassinating him once he gives to order to do something nuclear, or right after a limited strike.

As with so many authoritarians, definatly ones with a strong persona cultus, he painted himself into a corner far beyond his army's actions can give him.

I have to side with our leftie friends here. Nuclear weapons of any kind would be the end of our civilization.

Just an all-around stupid move, and insanity to be even talking about it.

I don't want any part of this conflict. I don't like either of them... at all. It matters nothing to me.

China is the one to worry about... it's all a distraction.
